How late I spent too late for trick and treating?

DH has decided that he doesn't want to go trick and treating with DD1. I have to be out the house between 5.40 and 7.30. Is 5pm too early or 7,30 too late. We'd just have to do a few of the surrounding streets.

7.30 not too late I don't think.

whatishistory · 30/10/2016 12:23

Blush sorry for the typo in the title.

I don't answer the door after about 7.30pm at the latest, as round here, anyone young enough to still be trick or treating will be done and back home by then.

SamhainSoubriquet · 30/10/2016 12:23

9 pm is the latest I will answer the door

whatishistory · 30/10/2016 12:26

7.30 tends to be my cut off point, but there's always a few people coming at 8 or even 8.15.

Is 5pm too early? I think so.

Bit Angry at DH saying he would do it and now refusing. Have DD in tears.

Can you just pop her round to a few neighbours in your street from 7.30 to 8? That should be fine.

user1477282676 · 30/10/2016 12:27

A lot aren't back from work at 5. I always found between 6 and 7 to be the best.

Scribblegirl · 30/10/2016 12:28

I think 5 should be ok - bear in mind now that the clocks have changed it should be dark(ish) by then.

SamhainSoubriquet · 30/10/2016 12:28

Why has your Dh suddenly changed his mind?

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 30/10/2016 12:28

Your DH is a miserable cunt by the way

Scribblegirl · 30/10/2016 12:28

Sorry, managed to confuse myself thinking it was tonight so hadn't factored in return from work!

AGruffaloCrumble · 30/10/2016 12:29

I don't answer the door past 7:00/7:30.

RaptorInaWitchesHat · 30/10/2016 12:30

8.30 tends to be my cut off, we tend to get people from about 4.30 (although I expect they'll start a little later as it's a week night).

LizardBreath · 30/10/2016 12:33

Why do people not answer the door after 7pm?

whatishistory · 30/10/2016 12:34

Yes, some people may not be back from work yet. Didn't think about that.

OP posts:
NoNutsPlease · 30/10/2016 12:40

I think 5 is fine! As soon as it starts to get dark.

I usually turn the door bell off when the DC go to bed at 7.00-7.30pm.

AGruffaloCrumble · 30/10/2016 12:42

Because I have young children that go to bed at 7? And I think anyone young enough to be trick or treating would be heading home around then anyway.

BusStopBetty · 30/10/2016 12:44

I suspect a lot of people won't be home at 5pm, and a lot more will have had enough by 7:30.

Your dh is a massive bellend.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 30/10/2016 12:48

6-7 is pesk time here, but it starts soon after dark and there are usually a few till about 8.30. I'd go early, by about 7.30 we've found a lot of houses run out of sweets.

WaxingNinja · 30/10/2016 12:48

Because anyone out after 7.30pm is too old to be trick or treating imo, plus I've started on the leftover sweets myself by then.

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 30/10/2016 12:49

Can't you go at 5, judge the mood then and if you/she wants to go out again at 7?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 30/10/2016 12:50

We used to take down the pumpkin and shut up shop by about 7.30 when the DCs were younger so we could do bedtime. Shut up shop when we run out of sweets now. Why has your DH changed his mind?

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 30/10/2016 12:50

Sorry, 7.30.

SerendipityPhenomenon · 30/10/2016 12:51

What's going on with your DH? There's lots of things we do for our children that we don't want to do. In his book is it OK for your child to be deprived of a harmless activity that she wants to do, or for you to have to do something that maybe you don't particularly want to do either?

ghostwatch · 30/10/2016 12:52

5 is not to early its dark by then using it and 7.30 I would saw is exceptable
