To ask if you've had botox/fillers?

One of my friends is going next week to have botox and also her lips done
I'm a bit sceptical of botox and fillers ....I wanted to ask if anyone has had this done and had any bad effects?

ive had botox for a few years with no side effects it makes my face look a bit fresher without being obvious that its been done

Same as chipsandpeas. I get mine done by a proper doctor though. I know of someone who had their lips botched - it was a newly-qualified person, not a doctor and made a very stupid mistake. It's all very low risk and reversible so not much of a biggie.

I have botox. Never had fillers.

I have been having botox for 5 years ish and never had a problem. I went from a good friends recommendation and then researched the person throughly.

I love it. The kids don't know I have it but usually comment that I look a bit grumpy when it's due. So it must make a difference. I feel better for it too.

There will be loads of horror stories too. It's not risk free and improper aftercare can cause problems.

My advice is always research the person having it done, make sure they have a medical back ground and always know the name of the product they are putting in.

Same here. I've had Botox (done by a doctor) only on the '11' lines between my brows and it's been fab. No side effects and it just made me look better - no one noticed (that was the intention).

I've never had anything else done. Lips would worry me

I have botox for medical reasons, it wears off after a few months. Plus you can develop an immunity to it. I eat the stuff for breakfast
I wouldnt be the first person to have my lips done by someone new. If they had a track record of good results that would be reassuring.

I had to have botox to fix my nystagmus when I was about 10. Still have to have one injection every year. Other than that I wouldn't have it, just don't see the point.

DP had a nose job a few years back. He broke it really badly and it never looked the same for a couple of years after. He eventually took the plunge and his nose looks the way it did before his accident and it's made his confidence shoot back up again.

I would never have lips as I always think of poor Leslie Ash. I'm presuming she didn't do it on the cheap and yet she's still suffering all these years later.

I definitely need fillers for '11' lines though

I have Botox for teeth grinding / jaw clenching / headaches.

It helps (also wear a night mouth guard)

I had a consultation with a doctor this week. She had tell tale tiny bruises around her face and the whole of one side of her mouth had dropped just like a palsy.

It was enough to remind me to never go there.

i have botox and fillers - recommended dermatologist. makes me look a lot fresher and people are surprised when i tell them!

I've had it a few times from a very reputable GP who does all private skin treatments. Usually a few weeks before an event that I want to (try to) look & feel good for.

When I don't have a fringe I have my forehead done more frequently. Never had any problems.

I have a friend though who had terrible bruising all around her mouth and it was very obvious what had caused it but she'd tried a new less expensive place. Be sure you use a very reputable clinic.

The cost here is "per area" - in central London £240 for 1 area, £310 for 2 areas.

my dentist does mine, i pay 250 for 3 areas, 200 for 2 - not sure of the price of one as either get 2 or 3 done, my forehead seems to have been cured, not had botox in about 18 months in that area and it looks ok - shame it hasnt worked like that on the crows feet or the 11s

Lesley Ash had permanent fillers not the type used now by reputable drs.

Cost is per mm of product used plus of course the dr's time.

I've known people pay £650 for 2mm in Harley St and £250 for lips.

Depends where you go.

Depends on the sort of face you have. Botox works quite well on small foreheads but if you have a big forehead anyway it makes it even more prominent and makes the hairline appear to recede by making the forehead appear bigger and smoother. Approach with caution with a big forehead.

This is a really interesting thread. Been thinking about this for a while. So is it Botox on forehead and then fillers for the fine lines around lips? Anyone done a bit of both? I have a couple of deep lines on forehead and some very fine lines round mouth (ex smoker)

I've had my lips done, I'm 25 and always felt like they were a bit thin for my face. I get so many compliments now about my lips and smile, but people never guess I've had them done! I think if you go to someone experienced and with good reviews it's so much more reassuring. I had them done 0.5ml at a time up to 2.5mls so it was a gradual increase and let my lips completely settle before going back. No more now until the filler starts to disappear, I have Teosyal Kiss and found it much more long lasting and natural feeling than Juvederm.

My sister had a really deep line between her brows and had it filled, it's completely gone now and will last for quite a while.

Just wondering what do people have for under eye bags / fine lines?
I'm early 30s but hollow eyes run in family inc children and adding other fine lines etc looks worse now

Careful injecting fillers into lines around the lips especially into the folds that go from nose to mouth. It can lead to quite an odd simian effect.

I'm very interested. I have deep lines from the side of my nose to below my lips. It's not a good look.

SIL has fillers. She used to be stunning, but now she has a puffy face, huge lips and tiny eyes. It's very weird.

bankworker I have Restylane under my eyes. Under eye hollows run in my family, and I've always had them; I've never had Botox.

Make sure you go to a highly reputable plastic surgeon or dermatologist. I see an ocuplastic surgeon who is absolutely fantastic, and I don't even bruise.
