angry as car has been stolen

My motability car was stolen last night. Just very angry, feel sick and like someone has taken my independence from me. Also lost my blue badge as it was in the car. V v v f&@ked off...

How can I calm down??

Can you have a blue badge reissued due to theft?
Does your insurance cover provide you with a car until either the claim is settled or they recover the car?

It's a massive inconvenience for you, but focusing on getting everything put back to how it was will stop your irritation building. Get the insurance company working and go from there. Hope it's all sorted soon Flowers

This happened to my sister a couple of weeks ago. She has a courtesy car from motability and is waiting for her replacement car.

It's scummy. My friend had her old car with a blue badge stolen from tesco car park from a disabled space. You have ever to wonder how low people can go

How'd they steal it? At least you won't be out of pocket and will hopefully just get another new one

It's possibly someone we know as the spare key has gone missing from the house. Blue badge is being reissued but it will take 3 weeks to come. Don't think I will be able to have a hire car as I've got my driving test on Wednesday and you normally have to have had your licence for 2 years. They have said they'll cover taxi costs up to the amount that I pay towards the car each week, which is helpful at the very least. The fact it's someone we know makes it so much harder, I'm so angry, I can't make it stop!

Have you involved the police? Surely they can track it down if it's someone you know?

The police have done nothing. They have known since before 9 am.

Motability are great, they will deal with everything and obviously contact the police as its their car. You won't be out of pocket and your car and badge will be replaced. Be assured this is a much better situation than if the car was owned by yourself.

Bastards! That's the way most cars get stolen these days. At least they'll pay for you to get about but it still sucks

I hope that these people havent borrowed keys and copied them....but someone let them in.

Changing lock barrels is cheap and easy.

What ever you do don't say the spare key was taken.

That admits your liable, as you should have got the car locks changed.

If they used your key then the insurance might not pay out.

Insurance is not the OP's problem. It's a lease car. Mobility insure it not the OP. Whether insurance pays up or not the OP won't be out of pocket and the car will be replaced.

I know someone who had their motability car stolen with the keys. They had awful trouble getting it replaced. Someone had taken their keys when they left them on the counter after ordering in a café.

We might have to pay out... Because it was a "friend" that was in the house and trusted enough to be there, they have said that we might be found at fault. I'm so angry and frustrated! If we do we'll end up having to become bankrupt because we can't pay 20k back for a car. And it still leaves me stuck...

This isn't a final decision but we have been told this is a possibility. Feel sick tbh!

I just can't get my head around it - why would someone who knows us do that, how can they sleep! Especially as he knows how hard it is to get around. People leave their keys on a coffee table all the time - that's not reckless or irresponsible! What do we do?

Hopefully the police can recover the car for you. In the case I know it was found burnt out. They were a disabled couple and motability would not reissue a car. The other person had to have the car in their name. It took a few months to resolve.

We know exactly who it was, but they haven't put it outside their house so the police aren't investigating any further unless they get a hit on a ANPR camera.

Did the police have any advice regarding approaching this (presumably ex) friend about the theft?
