this is why I said don't tell them about the spare keys missing.

Change your locks.
Ban that person from the house.
See a solicitor if you have to and get them to ask the police to check all the traffic cameras in your area.
Look around for any local businessess that might have CCTV facing the street and ask if they can help.

Just coming back to this thread. I hope you get it sorted out. Please do not panic about the key and it not being paid. Basically for an insurer not to pay you have to have been reckless, for example leaving the key in the vehicle or in the front door Or they have to have good grounds to think that you are complicit in the theft. Only having one set of keys results in a claims person coming to see you. They will usually collect your key and any documents for the car and take a statement. They then check that your story adds up with your original call and what the police have. Most car thefts these days involve the keys. If the key was taken from your house you have nothing to worry about. Be open and honest. If you don't know when the key was taken say that. Explain where it was kept. In reality it could have been anyone including a sneak the if unknown who are very clever so don't chuck accusations around. The insurers are not there to solve it but to check it's a genuine theft and pay it.

And the suggestion about not telling the insurers about missing keys. Do not do this. Oddly enough they expect 2 produced. And use key experts to make sure they are the keys for your specific car. Be honest. I have seen probably valid claims turn down because people lie about stuff like that and get caught out.

It's making my PTSD massively worse - I had my home serially broken into and stuff stolen by a family member and it's bringing back feelings of not feeling safe in my own home. I'm hating this, it's making me want to walk away from it all.
