A few months ago I was put out of my misery with help identifying a TV show so am hoping for the same.

  1. Was a small book. A6 landscape. I can't remember anything about the story except it had a group of children in it painting a shed, they didn't have enough paint so each painted a different side/the roof of the shed a different colour. When it rained the paint ran and the shed became brown.
  1. A series of books with characters that were personified weather. I thought they were called The Weather People but googling that brings up different things. One of the characters was called Baby Dewdrop!

The books were around in the mid-80s.

Can anyone help me?!

Hi. For the second are you sure it was weather and not flowers they represented - I'm thinking of the Patricia MacCarthy books the Dewdrop Fairies/Dewdrop Babies?

LavenderLedge · 09/09/2016 14:57

Oh gosh I remember that shed story but can't remember the name...let me have a think!

gabsdot · 09/09/2016 15:04

I remember that book. They had, red, blue and yellow paint but not enough of any one colour to do the whole thing so they mixed the paint up and made brown for the roof.

I can't remember the name of the book though.

Found the first one I think, it was called Oh We're They Ever Happy

Were not We're

Pookythebear · 09/09/2016 15:41

Oh can I hijack and ask for help too?? I remember a book, possible A5 portrait. It was about some moths at night, a moth family I think, and they slept in walnut shells. It was so atmospheric and beautifully illustrated.

That's all I remember, sorry I can't help with the others.

JacquesHammer · 09/09/2016 16:17

Wow. Bizarrely although the story seems right, I don't recognise the cover for "oh were they ever happy"

The other was definitely weather not flowers.

Thanks so much

Pooky - that rings a bell too!

Pookythebear · 09/09/2016 16:27

Jacques - so glad that rings a bell; I was doubting myself as the years went by. Tried every combination of words to try and google it, to no avail!

Scared, tbh they get on my wick a bit too. Flying into my kindle by night Angry...

WeeBoobs · 09/09/2016 16:34

From Googling it sounds like the books you're looking for are the Weathermen by Jan Holtom? Can't find any pics though. Want to know what Baby Dewdrop looked like!

Ladywithababy1 · 09/09/2016 16:37

What were the books (or book?) with vegetables - they all had names (eg) Lucy Leek and so on.

RedAmberGreen1 · 09/09/2016 16:39

Ladywithababy1

They were the Munch Bunch books.

crookedhooker · 09/09/2016 16:40

Could it have been the Garden Gang? They're the ones I remember with fruit and veg in the 80s.

scarednoob · 09/09/2016 16:40

The girl who drew and wrote the munch bunch books was only about 14 I think!

user1471449592 · 09/09/2016 16:43

Is this the cover you remember?

spaghettiarms1 · 09/09/2016 16:44

The Garden Gang books were about vegetables.

crookedhooker · 09/09/2016 16:45

Think I added fruit because I'm hungry. Remember them well had them all.

Ladywithababy1 · 09/09/2016 16:46

crooked and red I think I am thinking of the Garden Gang as opposed to the Munch Bunch, but neither of them match up exactly to my memory of them!

JacquesHammer · 09/09/2016 16:48

No - that's not the one I remember. I wonder if it's a popular theme for a story 😂

The Weathermen story titles sound right though!

I love this place - thanks so much!

Just checking I don't remember Munch Bunch at all.

OlennasWimple · 09/09/2016 16:50

Garden Gang books were fruit and veg (and written and illustrated, IIRC, by a young girl)
