AIBU to think that it really isn't that bad a name?

At least the girls names Daisy/Poppy/Petal are real names, even if they're also nouns...

But then in a way I think it doesn't matter as much when your parents are that famous, because the people they socialise with probably have different ideas of "norms" (in naming but also in other areas) than most people.

It's fucking awful - i can't believe the 'quirky' names they have saddled all of their kids with. He does it just because he's a celeb.

It's shit. Utterly self indulgent. No thought for their child who has to wear that name for the rest of his life.

Well it's his name so people's opinion won't change that.

If someone stared in my work today called River Oliver I'd probably not waste much time thinking about it. I certainly wouldn't consider it a great name though - like when I worked with a Chuck Boggs: I really enjoyed his name!!

If I found out my work colleague River had a middle name Rocket I would think it a bit of an odd name.

River Rocket and River Oliver just sounds like they didn't put much thought into the actual overall name (same as Magnus Magnuson sounds and the first and middle names May Bee would sound). The effort went into the being different.

Surely chances are; like all the Amelia Maes and the Joshua James' of the world, he will actually be known as River and nobody will really bat an eyelid?

River Rocket sounds like a type of speed boat. It's awful.

Still, at least River is sort of a real name and they got Rocket as a middle name. I have taught a boy called Rocket.
