Jamie Oliver's new son is reportedly called River Rocket .

AIBU to think that it really isn't that bad a name?

River's fine. The rest of it's awful.

Not as bad as Petal (foul) and Buddy though.

I don't see how Buddy is that different from Sonny, Ronnie, Billy, Jimmy. I've had 'grown men' introduce themselves as all sorts of oddball monikers that aren't actually their names. Men don't care. I went to school with a Dick in the 80s and he got hardly any hassle at all, he was well liked and, ahem, carried it well.

It's a bit downmarket.

It's a bloody awful name to saddle a child with. I bet he'll change it to Jack when he's older It's just so try hard.

I like River, but the name as a whole doesn't scan.

So I like River Rocket. River Oliver less so.

They (Jamie and jools) obviously have similar tastes and agree on names because no way on earth would my DH have this. He vetoed any alliterative names at all because it was "too cartoony".

It's sweet, we'll get used to it.

Buddy Bear is fine. Different but fine.

I had speech therapy when I was a child as I couldn't say my "R's" properly so River Rocket Oliver is a mouthful for me.

It's the sky one, Jools has already done some artwork, with a River and Rocket on it.

I think that if you hear an usual name in isolation, then it sounds 'strange' but when you're introduced to someone with that name, then you think nothing of it.
