This style vest suits me best but I have visible straps.
Can I get away with it?

I work as a primary teacher so any visible bra is not good. I wear sports crop tops with wide straps so it looks like layering and not bra like. Many 'ordinary' tops are quite wide on the neck now so obvious straps have to be worked into the look!

lilyboleyn · 12/08/2016 12:03

Came on here expecting a strapless top/ one with funny straps and bra straps in completely obvious and different place.

That kind of top and those kinds of straps are fine. HTH.

ItGoesWithoutSaying · 12/08/2016 12:11

Like you I am small of nork and like a vest top. Also like a bit of padding to boost my meagre assets! I wear a bra with straps showing a lot of the time. Try to make the strap colour not to different from the vest colour. I think it is fine.

I only wear strapless when the dress/top is strapless as I find them uncomfortable.

Liiinoo · 12/08/2016 12:26

It looks lovely.

My DDs are in their 20s and to them showing bra straps is normal. They were surprised when I said I couldn't wear a top because my straps were showing. But their bra straps, like yours, are thin and pretty colours. Mine are proper sturdy over the shoulder boulder holders in dull colours so don't look nearly as nice.

And do sun block your chest.

iloveeverykindofcat · 12/08/2016 12:38

Oh that's fine. Imo it's only a faux pas when the bra doesn't fit (cutting in/falling down) or is black under a white top or similar.

formerbabe · 12/08/2016 12:43

Nope...I don't think bra straps should be visible unless both the vest and bra are black...that looks quite nice IMO.

AnyFucker · 12/08/2016 12:47

It's not too late to save your chest, op

Mine started to look a bit ropey but when I started use high factor suncream and my facial moisturisor on it there has been a big improvement

MrsGsnow18 · 12/08/2016 12:49

I think visible bra straps are fine! Yours are a nice colour and compliment vest top imo.

The only exception I think would be if horrible grey or worse dirty ( but supposed to be white) straps were showing!

Nabootique · 12/08/2016 13:02

I think it looks fine. I was expecting one of those racing back type vests, with the bra straps on the shoulders, which I think looks odd, but if the straps are in line with each other in the same colour or quite a contrasting colour, I think it looks okay. No to black straps and white bra though, at least for me.

Nabootique · 12/08/2016 13:03

Yes, what MrsGsnow18 said!

SvalbardianPenguin · 12/08/2016 13:14

Women wear bras. It's a fact of life and if the straps can be seen, well does it matter? It's not like you are flashing your breasts at all and sundry.

rumpehpumpeh · 12/08/2016 13:17

Your waist is so tiny...I hate you

Going against the grain...I don't like the visible bra strap, I think it looks a bit scruffy. Have you got a strapless?

The vest really suits your figure though, I'm jealous!

KurriKurri · 12/08/2016 13:21

Mine are usually on show - I often wear longish tops but I have narrow shoulders and wide hips so tops that fit my bum are to big on shoulders - hence a certain amount of bagging up top and straps on show.

No one has said anything - if they did I'd tell them to bog off. I have to put up with seeing lads with their entire arse and underpants hanging out of their trousers everywhere I go - others can deal with my bra strappage Grin

You look lovely Op - wish I was slim enough to wear little strappy vest tops Smile

Laiste · 12/08/2016 13:58

My bra straps are on show pretty much every single day of the summer. I like string strap vest tops, they suit me very well, I have slim ribs and slim waist but i have big boobs and need to wear a proper bra during the day. The straps are usually a pretty colour but they rarely match the vest top. Perhaps i'm offending eyes left right and center, but so far no one has collapsed at the sight to my knowledge.

I remember coyness about bra straps at school. I can understand being more picky about the look of wedding dresses/evening dresses ect, but why on earth does it matter if the world can see a bra strap? Everyone knows women have boobs. Everyone knows you need a bra to hold your boobs up.

jennielou75 · 12/08/2016 14:12

I have small spaniel ears after losing loads of weight. They have to be folded away securely but I find straps show on most tops as they make them very wide or low cut.

2rebecca · 12/08/2016 14:20

I wouldn't wear a top that showed my bra straps but am over 50. Younger folk don't seem to care. I'd probably want a bra in the same colour as my top if the straps were to show.

Babyzoo · 12/08/2016 14:25

You're just showing off now.

The bra straps look fine and you're in great shape, but I'd be a bit worried about the sun with that style of top.

I agree with AF get some sun cream on. Or better still wear a tshirt.

Irelephant · 12/08/2016 14:37

Envy jealousy not sick. I am also small of nork I'm just bloated of belly aswell.

Eastpoint · 12/08/2016 14:41

This thread has made me put sunblock on my chest 😎Grin

Binkermum29 · 12/08/2016 14:45

The most ridiculous bra straps on show are the 'invisible' ones. Except they're not. They just look like 2 parallel strips of Sellotape.

WorraLiberty · 12/08/2016 14:53

Why would it be 'better still' to wear a t.shirt Babyzoo?

The OP said that style of vest suits her best.

Plus t.shirts aren't always as cooling in warm weather.

bloomburger · 12/08/2016 14:58

I don't like bra straps showing at all, I think it actually looks pretty cheap. Sorry.

Only time you'll be aware of my bra is at the gym but even that is the same black as my work out gear.

Babyzoo · 12/08/2016 15:10

I just always feel like chest back and shoulders should be protected from the sun

kali110 · 12/08/2016 15:12

It's fine op. Until mn i necer knew this offended people, i still don't care!

AveADayOffWillYa · 12/08/2016 15:14

If I had those perky norms I'd go bra-less Grin
