This style vest suits me best but I have visible straps.
Can I get away with it?

Have you seen what some people walk around in, OP? You look absolutely fine, including slightly pink décolletage.

AveADayOffWillYa · 12/08/2016 15:15

norks, obviously

norms is just weird

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 12/08/2016 15:17

It looks fine and I wish I was slim enough to do it! My bra straps were on show the whole time we were in Florida last year and I didn't even think about it.

HandWash · 12/08/2016 15:21

I'm 29 and as a teen my Mum and Nan were always on about bra straps not showing or having the correct colour of you must show them and don't get me stated on those ridiculous clear straps that always slipped Hmm

It was so liberating to not have to worry about these things! Women wear bras, it's not a secret.

I think it looks fine but I always try to match the bra colour to the top as I think that looks less noticeable. When I was much younger I would contrast them on purpose to draw attention to the bra! BlushGrin I also used to wear my thong poking out of the top of my jeans from the back like Britney Spears Shock Blush if I did that now I think it would look rather (more) obscene.

AnnaMarlowe · 12/08/2016 15:23

Given that you are slightly built you could go and buy a pile of cheap bras in matching colours and sew them into your vest tops.

Alternatively you can buy vest tops with inbuilt bras but they are expensive.

brastraps · 12/08/2016 17:17

baby why do you think I'm showing off?

I did not go out with no bra, I would not feel comfortable.

And I did apply sun cream!

AnyFucker · 12/08/2016 17:29

Good girl with the sun cream. Your chest skin will thank you for it. Halo

My comment was made in a kindly way. Not sure the same can be said of baby

Babyzoo · 13/08/2016 12:24

Oh my goodness, the showing off comment was meant in jest. I put afterwards that you were in great shape. It was meant in a jokey teasing way as after posting a bra less photo.

I didn't realise it would be taken so seriously.

Babyzoo · 13/08/2016 12:30

Oh and the comment about a t shirt was simply because you look fair skinned and you've caught the sun on your chest. Even with sunblock fair skin will be quite exposed if you're out running a lot.

Nothing about my posts were intended to be nasty at all and I reiterate that saying "you're showing off now" was meant as a joke. Showing off pert boobs with no bra.

Summerwood1 · 13/08/2016 12:32

Looking good😀

Wayfarersonbaby · 13/08/2016 12:46

I remember it still begin a no-no to show bra straps in the early 90s (I was SO jealous of my friends who had small norks and could wear a strappy top with no bra. I would have frightened the horses going out with no bra!)

Remember that early 90s fashion for wearing short-sleeved t-shirts under strappy dresses so that your bra wasn't on show? Looks a bit silly in hindsight.

In my recollection this changed in the late 90s and early 2000s when women started wearing strappy tops and not caring about visible bra straps. Much better IMO. Who cares if your bra straps are visible? Why should women be coy about the fact they wear bras, like it's the 1940s and no glimpse of a slip must be visible or someone might faint?

They are a nice colour, match up with the straps of the top and it looks nice.

brastraps · 13/08/2016 16:47

Thanks baby. The Internet can be a bigger for misinterpretation.

Doobigetta · 13/08/2016 16:58

I think it's fine for casual wear as long as the straps aren't grubby. Not for work or anything where you're supposed to look smart.
