to aim for a size 10 at almost 5'8?

CoolToned · 26/07/2016 21:45

Or more specifically, 5'7.75?

I have started a strict way of eating and I am currently a 16.

Is a size 10 at my height alright? Or unachievable?

I'm a rectangle shape - so basically boyish shape, heavy on top.

I'm a size 10 at 5"8 (slowly creeping up to a 12 after many years of being 8/10)

Tulipblank · 26/07/2016 21:48

I'm 5 6. Just lost 3.5 stone and gone from 16/18 to 10 ish. I'm a bit shorter than you but it's definitely doable. I could lose more but I'm happy as I am. You might not want to go much smaller though at 5 8.

Chinks123 · 26/07/2016 21:48

But I'm small busted and have big hips and bum.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 26/07/2016 21:48

I'm 5ft 7.7 (so like you 5'8)

I am a size 10. Currently weigh 10 stone 3, it's is absolutely achievable. Last October I was 13 stone 5 and a large 14. At my heaviest I was 14 stone 8 and a 16-18.

DiscoHouse · 26/07/2016 21:49

I'm same height as you, currently a size 14 after losing nearly 3 stone. Was a 16-18. I'm aiming for a size 12 and will then review. I would be happy at a 12 I think. We'll see- I may not even get to a 12- it's getting harder and harder to lose!!

DiscoHouse · 26/07/2016 21:50

If it helps I'm 12 stone 8 at the moment as a 14. Started at 15 stone 5 Shock

museumum · 26/07/2016 21:52

Depends on your boobs. Some people's will never fit into a 10 on top.

AnyFucker · 26/07/2016 21:52

Depends on your body type

I am 5ft 10 and a size 10/12

But I am straight up and down with low muscle mass and have had a curve-free boyish figure all my life

I put on a stone with each pregnancy and lost it within 6 weeks

I was made to be skinny

If you are not made to be skinny, you might get your weight down by artificial means but you won't be able to maintain it

dizzyfucker · 26/07/2016 21:52

I'm 5ft 8 and I'm mostly 10 with the occasional item needing to be a 12. I would say work slowly, go to 14 then 12 and finally 10.
I recommend a calorie counting fitness app. I took off all the baby weight of my last child with my fitness pal.

Excited101 · 26/07/2016 21:53

How did you do it Josh? I'm a solid 14 at the moment having spent most of my adult life as a 12-14 bottom and 12 top and I figured that I'd like to aim for size 10 but only seem to be getting bigger...

CoolToned · 26/07/2016 21:54

I have non-existent boobs. I have a big upper body but boyish shape so no boobs. It's the rib cage (and the layer of fat) that's big.

Last year, I was 12 stones and I was fitting into 14s and large 12s. But well, I gained some weight and now I'm 13 stones 3 and the 14s are tight, and I have to admit I'm a 16.

NotAnotherHarlot · 26/07/2016 21:54

10 definitely achievable.

If I ever lose the last 10lbs. Grin Which would take me to 10 4. I'm an hourglass. 12 is an easy fit at this weight. 10 is a bit tight.

TiramisuIsMyFriend · 26/07/2016 22:00

Yep, a 10 is achievable, definitely. I am also 5' 7.5" and a size 10 (well at the mo am a size "26 weeks pregnant" though still juuuust about able to do my jeans up under bump!

I was a size 14 at around 11.5 stone, which is the heaviest I've ever been, and a 10 at around 10.5 stone. Shortly before I got pregnant I was an 8, at around 10 stone.

I second the comment about boobs though, I have huge boobs so I need to be quite creative with material and cut of tops!

rainbrella · 26/07/2016 22:02

10 is achievable obviously dependent on your body structure.

im 5 ft 8 and currently 9 stone 7 when i measure within the first couple of hours after getting up. when i get to my pre dc 1 weight of 9 stone ish, im still between a 10 and a 12.

i am a consistent size 12 at my current weight of 9 st 7, its my ribs and wide hip setting which stop me from being a 10. im wide but flat in a rectangle shape.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 26/07/2016 22:04

I have small boobs and chunky thighs Hmm

My fitness pal is how I did it. Logged everything I ate. I still do...it's habit now. Mine was set to 1200 calories until I hit 11 stone 6 then I switched it up to 1600. Some days I eat 1600, some I eat 2000. But I'm still learning maintenance levels at the moment so this works for me.

IsItOnTheTrolley · 26/07/2016 22:11

5'8" size 10 here, absolutely achievable, I'm 9st 12lbs. Very little boobage!

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 26/07/2016 22:18

Yes, although as pps have said, it does depend on your build. I am very small built (tiny wrists, ankles and rib cage, although relatively large hips). I am a 10 up to about 10.5 stone. I do have a small waist though, and dress to accentuate this and diminish my hips. I doubt I'd get into size 10 shift dresses or cigarette pants at 10.5 stone, but I don't wear them because they don't suit me.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 26/07/2016 22:19

Forgot to add, I am exactly your height op.

Hereforthebeer · 26/07/2016 22:21

How did you all loose all this weight? WW, Slimming world or all by yourselves?

firedancer · 26/07/2016 22:22

You're sightly shorter than me, and your build sounds similar (ie rectangular body). I have recently lost weight and can fit into a 10 or 12 trousers, but 12 or 14 top. So you might find it harder to fit into a 10 for tops.

Good luck!

stopgap · 26/07/2016 22:25

I'm 5'7.5, and weigh 9 stone. I have a very small frame (used to weigh 8 stone until I was around 33-years-old) but have boobs and a bum (relative to my size, obviously) so go between an 8 and a 10. I think a 10 is achievable if you have a narrow frame.

Squeegle · 26/07/2016 22:27

I think it depends on your age too. I used to be a 10, but I think that would make me too scraggy now! I'm more of a plump
14 at the moment and would be totally happy to be a 12. I think middle aged people can look too thin- but that's just my opinion Grin. Am 50 and 5 ft 8 (and 11 st 4 eek!)

StillMedusa · 26/07/2016 22:40

5 ft 7 here, size 10 ( occasionally an 8 in 'kind' brands like Fatface or M+S ) and just a fraction over 9 stone. Kind of long and lanky but quite wide hips.

I'm 48 now and have to watch what I eat a bit more than I did at 30 but it's definitely doable!

ArgyMargy · 26/07/2016 22:44

Depends entirely on the shop. M&S size 10 is totally enormous so try there if you so want to be a size 10.

CadleCrap · 26/07/2016 23:00

It might also deed on your age OP. I am the same height and was the same weight. I am now a size 10, but I actually need to put on a bit of weight as I am looking a bit scraggy.
