to aim for a size 10 at almost 5'8?

Or more specifically, 5'7.75?

I have started a strict way of eating and I am currently a 16.

Is a size 10 at my height alright? Or unachievable?

I'm a rectangle shape - so basically boyish shape, heavy on top.

I'm 5-8 and am usually (pg at the moment) an 8, when I'm an 8 I weigh about 9 stone. I prefer myself as a 10 though but can't seem to eat enough and run round after a toddler to stay a 10.

Coulddowithanap · 27/07/2016 19:49

It's great to know it's achievable, I'm 5'9 ish and size 12 to 14. Trying to get to 10stone something, I'll even be happier if it's 1lb under 11 stone!

Terramirabilis · 27/07/2016 20:18

I am just a hair under 5'8" and currently 10 stone 3. Am aiming for 9 stone 9 which would put me at 135 lbs. I am a UK 10 right now and not sure whether 135 will get me down to an eight or not. I think a lot depends on frame. I have long arms and legs, big feet and hands and a big head (!) so with the weight of all that bone I'm guessing I might be visually thinner at 10 stone 3 than some other people of my height would be. I also have a very small waist which I think helps to give an impression of slimness despite my definitely not small thighs.

Pisssssedofff · 28/07/2016 12:00

10 stone seems to be the magic number but it's about shape not height/weight at 18 I was 10 stone 3lbs and a size 14 due to shit diet and no exercise with plenty of larger

I8toys · 28/07/2016 12:43

I'm 5ft 8 and a UK size 8/10 - dependent on shop. I'm 9st 8 and anything lower would look too thin. I feel comfortable and think clothes fit me best at this weight. I am hourglass shape with normalish boobs 38C

theworldaccordingtome · 28/07/2016 13:02

I'm 5' 7" 1/2 and an 8 -10. Not unachievable and if I'm any bigger I feel too big.

ChuffMuffin · 28/07/2016 14:11

Another 5"10 size 10. Used to be a 16. Kept the weight off for four years now, basically by making better food choices and moving more.

augustusglupe · 28/07/2016 14:17

I'm 5 ft 9 and a size 10. I used to be an 8 but now I'm...erm..a bit older Hmm I find a 10 suits me. I've always been slim. I don't really understand why a10 wouldn't be achievable OP Go for it!!

augustusglupe · 28/07/2016 14:23

Agree with others too. I used to diet a lot...but now I'm older I never count calories. However, I tend to eat very healthily most of the time, hardly drink alcohol atall and exercise a fair bit.

MrsMogginsMinge · 28/07/2016 14:54

Depends on your build. I'm 5'8" and even at my very skinniest late teens moment (8st 10 or so) I was still a 12. I have broad shoulders and hips. That was a couple of decades ago though Blush and sizes are a little more generous these days. Somehow I'm only a 16 now despite being nearly 50% heavier...

fluffiphlox · 28/07/2016 15:07

I was 9st 7lbs and 5'8" forty years ago. That was a size 14 then! Vanity sizing these days would allow you to be a size 10 I think.

Dbsparkles · 28/07/2016 15:11

I'm 5'7" and an 8-10, so yes achievable based on height, but depends on your build too.

CoolToned · 28/07/2016 22:48

augustus - I've never been a 10, always been chubby to fat to chubby to fat (endless loop). This time though, I'm determined to lose the weight and get down to normal BMI. Just wondering if it will get me to 10. I was fitting into 12-14 when I was 168 lbs. The 12s I tried were probably generous though

I mean, my goal is to be in normal BMI. If I'm a size 12 when I am there, it's fine. Just wondering if I can get into a 10. It seems like an alien concept to me, being big my whole life :)

Are you exercising as well? You need to find a spot where your body is comfortable. For me that's a 10/12 at 5'6 and a stone overweight

I'm 5'8" and a size 8 in most shops. Why wouldn't it he achievable just because of your height? It's your frame that counts.

For reference a weight 9 stone so am on the underweight side of things but that's how I am. I have been as heavy as 13 stone though.

crayfish · 29/07/2016 15:59

Lot of spelling errors there, sorry!

JamieVardysParty · 29/07/2016 16:05

Depends where you shop - an M&S/Next 10 is very different to a Topshop/Miss Selfridge 10.

I'm 5ft 9 and a 10 in the former and a 12 in the latter.

Currently weighing 73kg. If I go under 70kg, I'm a 10 everywhere on my bottom, but my boobs are 30HH so always need a 12 top/dress.
