s lindy bop sizing rigid or is it slightly roomier? Just ive found a gorgeous dress that is ideal for my friends wedding as its the same purple as ds kilt and i love it. Thing is the only sizes they have are 8 10 and 12 but im a 14. Im wondering since its down to £8 just now do i just order it and if it doesnt fit send it back or go on a major diet til the wedding? For their wiggle dresses in particular I find Lindy Bop quite inconsistent. How do your own measurements compare to their size chart? And what style are you considering?

planeymcplaneface · 18/07/2016 23:37

This is the one id like. My sizes arent too dissimilar to theirs. Ill get my auntie to measure me. Shes a kiltmaker so knows her stuff

My experience is that LindyBop comes up a bit small. My daughter usually wears a 20 and her LindyBop dresses are size 24. They have a size guide online, which is pretty accurate, so measure yourself and go by their guide.

AdjustableWench · 18/07/2016 23:40

That's a beautiful dress! I hope you find one that fits you.

Love your username too Smile.

I wonder if it would be an idea to phone them direct and ask about it

I love it and at £8 its a total bargain!. And thank you :)

That's gorgeous, love the colour. And the price. With that style I find them TTS. Can be quite generous on the top half though, which may or may not be an issue for you.

planeymcplaneface · 18/07/2016 23:46

Im a 34g so need something that wont squash me and the lindy bop dresses in this style seems ideal for that

I'm afraid I think they're small. I'm usually a 14-16 and in LB I'm an 18. You have to pay for returns to them. I'd still risk it for £8.

RobinsAreTerritorialFuckers · 18/07/2016 23:51

Small in the bust, large in the waist, IME. An odd combination for a retro-styled brand. I am a cup size DD and they are never big enough for me. In most retro wear I'm a size 14, so in high street a 10, and their stuff fits me well enough on the waist at a 10, but is too tiny in the bust. A 14 gapes at the waist but fits on the bust.

planeymcplaneface · 18/07/2016 23:52

Thats what i was thinking as £8 is a lot better than paying £32 for it tightfistedness coming out in me

Twingo78 · 18/07/2016 23:55

Hmm, if you're a 34g, I don't think it will fit you, unfortunately.

I'm a size 12 and bought that dress recently and it didn't quite fit round the bust. There was no give in the material and it has a zip up the back.

I'm breastfeeding and have still got a bit of baby weight to lose so I kept it and I'm hoping I may fit into it one day ...!

ConcreteUnderpants · 18/07/2016 23:58

I agree. I always have to go for a size larger.
I think inhave that dress (or a very very similar one but in green). Like Twingo said, it's not stretchy at all.
If I were you, sorry, but I'd continue the search. X

planeymcplaneface · 19/07/2016 00:01

Ahh damn Sad it looked so nice as well. Is there anywhere on the high st that would have something similar to it that wont break my piggy bank?

My sil managed to very recently get a 50's look spotty dress from New Look. Or look on Fleabay.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 19/07/2016 00:10

I think (if it makes you feel any better about it) you might have ended up spending more than £8 anyway - I think that it might have needed a petticoat to look really good.

planeymcplaneface · 19/07/2016 00:10

Ill have a look on new look. Would rather not go to ebay as have been burned before. I wonder if i can hire a nice dress?

I have that dress in a different colour. I'm a 16 and the dress is too.

DeathStare · 19/07/2016 06:15

Bout this dress last week for my DD who is a size 6. I bought the 8 and the top was very tight.

I have an almost identical Lindy Bop dress in a 16 and I am a 16 and it fits.

CaptainBrickbeard · 19/07/2016 06:26

Funnily enough, I find Lindy Bop true to size and a little generous in the Ophelia style. Other styles I've had to go up two sizes or randomly down a size - they are really inconsistent. I am also a 34G and my boobs go in the Ophelia - I sort of hook them up once the dress is on and it's pretty low cut but it fits. I would really recommend the dress if you can get one that fits, I get so many compliments when I wear mine. Try Elsie's Attic if Lindy Bop don't have your size, they do the same style dress but call it the Hermione I think.

CaptainBrickbeard · 19/07/2016 06:27

I HOIK my boobs, not hook them!

CaptainBrickbeard · 19/07/2016 06:28

Sorry, too early in the morning, you aren't looking at the Ophelia...drinks more coffee... Like I said, it's a gamble as their sizing can be all over and I've had too big and too small with the same number on the label from them.
