s lindy bop sizing rigid or is it slightly roomier? Just ive found a gorgeous dress that is ideal for my friends wedding as its the same purple as ds kilt and i love it. Thing is the only sizes they have are 8 10 and 12 but im a 14. Im wondering since its down to £8 just now do i just order it and if it doesnt fit send it back or go on a major diet til the wedding? Grin

I found them inconsistant. I'm a size 10, bought a 12 which had plenty of room, but the zip burst when I twisted to get out of the car. Wasn't impressed.

CaptainBrickbeard · 19/07/2016 06:30

The zips can be a bit shit, that same thing happened to me and someone else I know. I got the zip replaced and the overall cost of the dress was still cheap but it was frustrating.

BikeRunSki · 19/07/2016 06:38

similar style, same colour here

WotFisticuffs · 19/07/2016 06:44

I've bought a few Lindy Bop dresses, including that style in a different colour. Of all of them, that style was pretty much true to size.

The Ophelia however...now that took a lot of hoiking my busom to fit into!

honeysucklejasmine · 19/07/2016 06:48

I found them bigger. I measured, ordered the appropriate size cried a little and waited. When they arrived they were almost all too big, so I have been taking them in. They were a little inconsistent, some better than others, but 3 out of 4 are definitely too big.

planeymcplaneface · 19/07/2016 09:17

Hmm so a pretty mixed response then... i wonder then do i chance it and see what its like?

i've got about 10 liny dresses.

It really, really varies from style to style. I've found most of them fairly accurate, the Ophelia needs sizing up imho.

The Grace (The one you have) is one i have waiting to arrive, but its similar in shape to the Leda and Victoria which are true to size.

Fibbertigibbet · 19/07/2016 09:53

Lindy Bop have very inconsistent sizing- I've bought the same dress in the same size and had some come up huge and others be very snug. Generally, I'd say roomy on the waist and small in the bust as Robins said is the most likely sizing, so if you're busty I definitely wouldn't size down.

Samcro · 19/07/2016 09:57

they are not big
i got dd 2 size 12(she is a 10)
one fits lovely the other wouldn't even do up

branofthemist · 19/07/2016 10:01

I second hell bunny. I find them a bit more stretch and never failed to fit into theirs.

pottymummy · 19/07/2016 10:11

What everyone else said. They are pretty inconsistent. They also have appalling service during sale time. But everyone carries on buying from them anyway because they are SO cheap. Just risk it. If it doesn't fit, then sell it on ebay. Also go to the lindy bop clothing buy, sell, swap page on fb. You can often find what you want (or request it) on there.

tinyterrors · 19/07/2016 14:41

I find the sizing inconsistent too. I bought a dress for sil's wedding using their size chart and ordered the next size up, according to the measurements for the dress I bought I was a 16 but ordered an 18 because I hate fitted clothes and the 18 just fit even though their chart said I should have 2" leeway. I'm a 36b and the dress fit perfectly across the bust which is unusual as clothes manufacturers tend to think everyone who is a size 16 has big boobs.

They are really nice dresses and well made ime but the sizing is awful and you have to pay for returns. You'd be best using the size chart for the dress you like (they're different for different styles) and order the size up for you bust measurment and get it taken in at the waist.

ToastyFingers · 19/07/2016 15:45

I'm going to go against the grain here, I'm a 32f and wear a size smaller in the swing type Lindy bop dresses as I have a small waist and ribcage compared to my hips/bum.

MrsRudyRudpoo · 19/07/2016 16:15

I have this dress but in a different colour. Im a 14 and the same bra size as you, no way would a 12 have fitted. Sorry, it's such a pretty colour!

sunshinehitme · 19/07/2016 16:28

Try Lady V London for similar dresses, I find their sizing to be quite consistent and they usually have a bit of a stretch to them.

FelixFelix · 19/07/2016 16:34

I had this dress in red as a bridesmaid dress, and they are quite small fitting. I ended up with an 18 in the end when I was at the larger end of a 14. Very snug on the boobs when I don't exactly have massive ones! Also definitely needs a petticoat to look good.

planeymcplaneface · 19/07/2016 23:31

I decided not to order the lindy bop dress after all. Im going to go into glasgow in the next couple of weeks as there are some great specialist shops there and fingers crossed i find the one

I love love love Lindy Bop dresses, but the sizing is mad. Sometime too big, sometimes too small. I tend to buy a few bits when there is a sale (£8!) and send back what doesn't fit. They are very cheap but still made of cotton, so it comes with the territory. I also think the waists tend to be very big compared with the boobs. Another poster said this is odd for a vintage repro brand, but I find Collectif are the same (but at least consistent!)
Fit wise my favs are Vivien of Holloway, Love Ur Look and Victory Parade, but they all cost £60 - £99. Sure for £8 you can't go wrong! Maybe get it in the slightly bigger size and put some darts in it if it's too big.

Pangur2 · 20/07/2016 00:20

Ps the petticoats are only £6 at the moment. You need one for this kind of dress; I agree with the poster above.

Pangur2 · 20/07/2016 00:22

The shame. I didn't read the poxy thread properly. Nah, don't risk a 12.

planeymcplaneface · 20/07/2016 00:23

Thats why i decided not to as 12 was the biggest size they had left Sad

Bentedbigmess · 20/07/2016 00:25

I don't get the dresses with the different coloured bust bit. I've tried a couple but it looked like I was flashing my bra, kinda.

Pangur2 · 20/07/2016 00:26

Boo! Sorry, I was so excited to see vintage clothes being discussed! I commented too quickly. Ooh, check eBay. Loads of Lindy Bop stuff on there. Due to the wonky sizing. Wink

Pangur2 · 20/07/2016 00:26

I love the Ophelia dresses but you have to be in a brave mood, haha!

WalrusGumboot · 20/07/2016 05:36

Some of us don't have a huge bust so it's good to see a brand that caters for a different figure.
