AIBU to have such a big ego?

I don't really know if this is having a big ego, but the fact that I made my baby, it kind of is!

All I do is look at her and she makes me wonder how any other mum/dad will be able to cope with their own newborns, when they see how gorgeous mine is, as they'll all wish mine was theirs is that normal?

nothing wrong with being proud of your newborn!

PS. when they immediately crap in the clean nappy you've just put on at 3am, you may feel slightly different.

Not in the least unreasonable, as long as you bear in mind that every other parent is inwardly shaking their head in pity at your baby for not being their beauteous offspring.

I still feel like this ( about my nearly 6year old!)

As long as you realise that every other mother in your baby group will privately be feeling sorry for you because your baby isn't as gorgeous as theirs.

Oh god, I will never forget my sister looking through one of my photo albums and being aghast at a photo of her youngest - to be fair, my little niece did look like a small and wrinkly gremlin until she was about 2
She said "oh my god, I used to walk her about in a front facing pram so that people could see her, I was convinced everyone would be jealous of hour beautiful she was!"
Bless my sister, and my niece eventually grew out of her gremlin looks and I'm pleased to report, now looks like all other human 10 year olds

I remember feeling like this when I had ds1. I was completely sure that all the other new mums on the ward must be so jealous of me with my beautiful baby, when they just had their own completely unimpressive ones

I remember looking at a class photo and telling my friend that it was perfectly obvious my ds was the most handsome in the class by a mile, before suddenly remembering that her ds was in the picture too

I laughed as though I was joking and made light of it, she laughed too, but I'm sure she knew I really meant it. I'm cringing again just thinking about it

Yes that's totally normal. I used to feel sorry for the mothers of other babies as they were mainly just so ugly.

I've never been lucky enough to have my own babies despite years of trying so don't know that feeling. I went on a thread once, and I was genuinely curious because my mum was awful, and asked if everyone really thinks that about their children? I was accused of being a troll!

I remember a nurse on the maternity ward commenting on how the current batch of babies were unusually good-looking. I thought "I bet she says that all the time to keep the mothers happy, only of course this week luckily for her it's absolutely true, because she's looking at PFB Coolibar"

OP - I still feel that way and mine are teens. It's the most brilliant side effect of motherhood - you get this phenomenal burst of overwhelming love you didn't now existed. It never leaves. Enjoy it.

I remember my DH confiding in me that he felt sorry for other people as they had normal babies and our was the cutest he had EVER seen. It made me smile.
