AIBU to have such a big ego?

I don't really know if this is having a big ego, but the fact that I made my baby, it kind of is!

All I do is look at her and she makes me wonder how any other mum/dad will be able to cope with their own newborns, when they see how gorgeous mine is, as they'll all wish mine was theirs Grin is that normal?

My middle brother was a very unfortunate-looking baby and the other women at the baby group were aghast when my mother openly and cheerfully admitted it. He turned into a beautiful toddler though.

LBOCS2 · 30/06/2016 21:49

My mum thought this about me, but looking back on my baby pictures when she was pregnant she realised that I actually looked quite like a monkey for a while. She wouldn't believe the MWs when they told her my sister was a pretty baby - and she actually was.

I produce extremely beautiful babies, who, retrospectively, look like potatoes.

Your amazement of the never goes away.
My dd is 17 and could still put her on a butty now, and squish her, so you can imagine what I was like with her as a baby.Grin
Congratulations on your new baby.

I will say, my first DC had very delicate features and other than being born bluer than a smurf and having hair like les Dawson, wasn't a completely unattractive newborn.
Dc2 looked quite bad.
Dc3 looked like mr burns.
I was not a deluded parent! I loved them all very much and they have come through it alright, but poor lovely dc2!

Whitelisbon · 30/06/2016 22:04

I remember being absolutely furious when my pfb didn't win a beautiful baby contest, when the winner was clearly pig ugly, took me months to stop wittering on about it. In hindsight, she looked like an alien rammed into a pink dress.
She's now a stunning 13 yo, and not alien like at all.

CakeNinja · 30/06/2016 22:05

White properly lolled at alien rammed into a pink dress Grin Grin and I'm not a 'lol'ler!

Neither of mine were beautiful newborns and I think all babies (including mine) are pretty ugly till they are about 6 months. Ds2 was more normal looking than ds1 who looked like yoda on speed. He's nearly 4 now and is utterly gorgeous and ds2 is quite the most scrumptious thing ever (that is a fact because he is so big and squishy and cheeky). I'm a bit scared of what this coming baby will look like.

My DS was so beautiful he actually glowed. Me and DH used to marvel at his breathtaking beauty. Now when I look back at photos he looks distinctly cabbage patch kiddish. He had however grown into the most perfect example of boyhood. I still gaze at him in awe even though he's missing most his teeth and his ears are on the large side

dailymaillazyjournos · 30/06/2016 22:20

YANBU. I'm a grannie and feel the same about my first grandchild, who is the most remarkably amazing baby to arrive on planet earth since her mother was born Blush.

littlepeas · 30/06/2016 22:28

I think this is totally normal. In my eyes my dc are the most beautiful, wonderful children in the world and I have never compared any of them unfavourably to another child, because, as far as I'm concerned, they are the best! Really, completely normal.

Pheobe1 · 30/06/2016 23:01

Totally normal, my 16 went to his prom tonight.

He was without a doubt the most handsome boy there 😀

Pinkheart5915 · 30/06/2016 23:04

Congratulations 🍼🍼

It is wonderful feeling that way, overwhelming burst of Love. I've got an unbelievably cute baby ds well with me as his mum he was always going to be extra cute Wink

SaltMarshPirate · 30/06/2016 23:16

Ah, lovely.
When my two were born I seriously thought other mothers would try and run off with them as they were both so beautiful. I was prepared to fight!
They were massive babies, our first so much so that one doctor muttered, 'That one will be a prop.'
Both were forceps and were a bit battered coming out. I wince at the pictures now, as they were so bruised, but at the time I was amazed by their beauty.
Lovely time for you, enjoy.
