To meet this person against dh concerns

EveOnline2016 · 27/06/2016 20:11

I have been talking to a female in which we play the same game.

Not chance of catfishing as she has a husband who I have talk to as well.

It's a train trip away and can meet in a matural place in a city I would love to visit anyway so if it's a no show I can see a few museums.

Dh has never 'stopped' me from going anywhere and he is not a controlling person and encourages me to go out with friends ect.

Wibu to go anyway.

Providing you follow all the usual safety advice I would go. Or ask DH to come with and wait in the car where he can see you or something?

Kerberos · 27/06/2016 20:13

Same game?

MrsSpecter · 27/06/2016 20:17

I'm sure you know how to keep yourself safe in a strange city, he could come with you if he is concerned but really i think hems being ridiculous. You arent going to climb into any vans with her are you?

MrsSpecter · 27/06/2016 20:18

Actually, i dont know if he is being ridiculous so i retract that. He has concerns, perhaps fair enough. What is he saying?

Redglitter · 27/06/2016 20:19

Definitely meet her. I've met some great friends online. If you're meeting for lunch or coffee in a public place what are his concerns

CarpeJugulum · 27/06/2016 20:19

Provided you are safe, sensible and take precautions then you should be fine.

Biased coz I met one of my good friends via online gaming and he introduced me to DH

EveOnline2016 · 27/06/2016 20:20

An online game.

We talk over the Internet

OP posts:
Kerberos · 27/06/2016 20:20

I suppose it's similar to going to a MN meet up?

Kerberos · 27/06/2016 20:20

Xbox?

Being nosy - what game? :)

ChocolateTeacup · 27/06/2016 20:21

Well my OH and I met on wow, so I am a little biased, open public space I would say go for it

TheHobbitMum · 27/06/2016 20:22

Follow the usual guidelines for meeting someone in person when you know them online. As long gas your careful and initially meet in a public place there isn't any harm. DH & I have made life long friends from online gaming and have travelled over the world to meet them, holidayed together and been to each others weddings LOL Not everyone online is a mass murdering weirdo :)

bushtailadventures · 27/06/2016 20:23

As long as you are sensible and meet in a public place I don't see the problem. I have had some lovely days with friends I met on an internet forum, wouldn't have missed them for the world.

EveOnline2016 · 27/06/2016 20:27

Eveonline hence my username :)

Oysterbabe · 27/06/2016 20:27

I don't see the problem. I've met many a mumsnetter.

53rdAndBird · 27/06/2016 20:31

YANBU.

(Unless it's the game your name suggests, in which case she's clearly a spai for the Goons. Trust nobody! Never undock! Ahem.)

Fairylea · 27/06/2016 20:34

You have just as much chance of meeting a weirdo in a club or bar or whatever as you do of meeting them online. As long as people are sensible and meet in public places and get to know them properly what's the harm in it? I met dh online, plenty of fish. Been together coming up to 7 years now Grin

EveOnline2016 · 27/06/2016 20:34

Thankfully not a goon. I did her api if I ever found out she was a goon I would kick her from Corp.

OP posts:
HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 27/06/2016 20:34

YNBU. I've met tons of MNers and this doesn't strike me as any different. Just be sensible!

EveOnline2016 · 27/06/2016 20:37

53rdAndBird.

You have me interested what do you do in game.

OP posts:
blitheringbuzzards1234 · 27/06/2016 20:43

Why not meet together as a foursome in a public place for coffee? You may find that they become life-long friends. As long as you all do the necessary stuff to be safe. If you don't meet up you'll never know.

jay55 · 27/06/2016 20:43

I know someone who married her online scrabble partner. Go have fun.

Mcchickenbb41 · 27/06/2016 20:49

Ahh don't be too hard on him I'm sure he's just worried about safety etc. Especially if it's not the norm for him to ask you not to do something. I'm not saying you shouldn't go btw Smile

53rdAndBird · 27/06/2016 20:49

I don't play at the moment - no time Sad But I used to live in in a C3 WH with a little mostly-industrial/ratting corp. I was useless at PvP - used to end up feeling sorry for inept WH wanderers and refunding their ships if I blew them up Grin Never lived in null - plan to give that a try if I ever get back in game.

EveOnline2016 · 27/06/2016 20:56

I'm in null. Currently MN as we have 35 neuts in system in the wrong time zone.

I mainly do mining in my skiff. But also love abit of ratting.

Hoping they warp to the citadel.
