Jo Cox.

I can't get over the fact that her children are having to be told that their mum isn't coming home.

It's just made me feel rotten.

I think of people feel the same. my Facebook feed suggests that I wasn't the only one to have started crying when I tucked my children up in bed tonight and thought of her family.

She was the same age as me, and the sort of woman who I really admire.

I just googled. Horrific. Why do people do these things. Do they have no sense of how precious life is.

It's awful. She probably kissed or hugged her children goodbye this morning and set off to work. She had no idea she would be brutally murdered and end up in a morgue at the end of the day. It makes me shiver, poor woman and her poor family.

She seemed like she had such strong values and good morals.

Those poor babies won't even remember much about their mum as they grow up as they're only 3 and 5.

I feel so angry that someone should strip those children of their right to a mother

YANBU OP I've been in tears over it - and I really don't do that over the deaths of people I don;t know

Yep OP. I get it. Those poor kids, her family and friends....

This has been a truly awful week with terrible acts. I cried reading the account of the texts between a son and his mum during the Orlando club massacre. I also cried earlier today reading about the mum who stood in from of her son that night and was murdered.

The whole doesn't seem a very happy safe place to me right now....

I feel a sense of profound sadness even though I didn't even know who she was until today. I'm sure her legacy will live on. People like her with such spirit and energy have such an influence on people.

My heart breaks for her family.

There's going to be a two minutes silence for her at 11pm, held during the Wandworth by-election.

The person they have arrested has a history of severe MH issues.

It's shocking. Only two days ago a former neighbour of mine and her DD was murdered by the DDs ex partner.

It's quite sobering to think that life could be over, as quick and unexpected as that.

I sobbed after I did stories and tucking in. I just can't grasp the enormity of what one person saw fit to do to another. I know it happens round the world every day, however this has really got me.
Those two little girls, not long past being babies, and the horror Mrs Cox saw in her last breaths.
She is my age, with daughters, a job, I noticed in one of the photos I have the same dress, she may have been an MP but she was just a normal woman, mother, wife, family member.
So sad.

I hadn't heard of her before today either but feel profoundly sad about it too. Her poor husband & DC. Truly tragic & from all accounts, she seemed like a thoroughly decent MP. RIP.

It's distressing enough knowing that a family have lost their mum, wife, daughter, friend in such a violent manner...but she was such a great contributor to society too. Utterly heartbreaking.

How on Earth do you explain that to your kids?

And, give it a few years, and they'll find the godawful details of how their mother was killed plastered all over the Internet :(

I met her a few times when I was at university - she used to share a house with a friend of mine. Didn't realise it was her until I saw the pictures and then made the connection. Utter disbelief.

Those poor, poor little girls. What a tragic waste.

The last few weeks have been really shocking in the news. It just seems to get worse and worse and worse.

But this story has finished me off and I am now having to limit how much news I read/watch. I am keeping away from facebook too.

Those poor children. There are no words.

Society is becoming so hate filled and scary. I fear for the future.
