To just feel so upset about

Jo Cox.

I can't get over the fact that her children are having to be told that their mum isn't coming home.

It's just made me feel rotten.

So sad, I too keep thinking about her little children missing her. Jo Cox sounds like exactly the sort of MP the country needs, maybe some of the others will be a bit more like her. I did think Cameron looked genuinely shaken when he spoke about her, not his usual smooth self.

RIP Jo Flowers

There are disgraceful people on SM trying to political points score. It isn't confined to one side either.

All extremely distasteful.

Mycatsabastard · 16/06/2016 23:14

This has really touched me. I was 6 and my sister was 2 when our mum was murdered and we have no memories of her.

It's just awful, such a tragic waste of a beautiful woman, inside and out.

YANBU Op. I am very upset about this too. She went to work and didn't come home. That's just unimaginable for her husband who was probably going about his day quite happily and now his world is shattered.

BusyLizzie12 · 16/06/2016 23:16

I am so sorry you lost your mum in such a tragic way. I cannot imagine what it must have been like for you.

wasonthelist · 16/06/2016 23:17

Sad and very sobering, as others have said, makes me value my life and my child and family. I can't imagine having to break something like that to a child. Evidently she was doing what good MPs do, day in and day out, which is talking to ordinary members of the public.

Brokenbiscuit · 16/06/2016 23:17

Mycats, I'm so sorry. Flowers

I cuddled my 12 year old DS. He was not best impressed but I think he secretly loved it and clung on to me a bit when he left his room.
I am an avid politics follower and was aware of this inspirational, intelligent, beautiful and peaceloving woman

PeppaTheFirst · 16/06/2016 23:24

Totally agree with these messages. She just seems so young and her youngest is the same age as my daughter, which really brought a lump to my throat. Just can't comprehend how her family will cope. The formal and informal pictures released of her show her with such a lovely open smile. She seemed to be someone who was all about the greater good. Very very upsetting.

AvaLeStrange · 16/06/2016 23:25

I was horrified but not upset until I read this thread - tbh I'd purposely avoided reading anything but the bare details.

Knowing now that she was not only the same age as me, but had DDs a few years younger than mine and the same age as the little ones I work with...just ghastly.

There were some quotes about why she became an MP on FB earlier - as others have said, she was exactly the sort of person we need in Parliament.

icebearforpresident · 16/06/2016 23:27

I caught the news just as it was breaking that she had been shot and have been watching most of the day. As soon as the officer started talking at the press conference where her death was announced I burst into years,i just knew what she was going to say. Gave my 2 girls an extra big cuddle tonight.

The country needs people like Jo to represent it in parliament and for her to be taken in such circumstances is horrific. From the sounds of things she would have gone far.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 16/06/2016 23:34

I'm really struggling too. She seems like such a warm, committed and bright woman. Mind you, even if she was the total opposite of that, she still deserved to come home safe from her work to put her babies to bed.

I'm not very sure how the world works at the moment... Sad

bojorojo · 16/06/2016 23:39

We actually have hundreds of decent, hardworking, people in Parliament. Sadly, social media and hatred in society has vilified all of them. None of them deserve the bile that is directed at them even when we strongly disagree with their strategies and politics. Looking at a post about George Osbourne recently on MN - it was filled with hate and loathing. This just cannot be acceptable but it is typical of a society that feels it can say anything about anyone they disagree with. Whatever we think about politicians, we are a democracy and they are elected. They all do their best and many work tirelessly for their constituents. Jo Cox was one of these excellent MPs but it may well be that hatred whipped up in the referendum "debate" has tipped someone over the edge to do a terrible thing. As a country, we need to use polite language and respect each other a bit more.

LittleLionMansMummy · 16/06/2016 23:43

I think we all held our children a little tighter tonight at bedtime. Ds is the same age as her eldest child. I told him he's the best thing I've done in my life and he should never forget that.

The utterly sincere and heartfelt words from clearly very shaken MPs of all political colours shows just how well liked, admired and respected she was. I hadn't heard of her until tonight, but have read about her impact on those around her and completely agree with everything she stood for in humanity.

I can usually pretty much watch the news and despite what I see I mentally stay detached, however this really did get to me. It is so brutal, shocking and sad. There are no words really.

ManagersDilemma · 17/06/2016 00:32

I don't support her party but omg, it is tragic. What a waste of a life and how absolutely horrific for her family.
