Blue presents for a girl?

We're going to a 1st birthday party to our friends' girl and I've got her blue dungarees and blue ans white tights from Debenhams along with some chocolates.
Now, I have a boy similar age.
I am afraid that the presents will come off as unwanted presents I kept from my boy (as they are blue) and just offloading. But they are not, I just thought they'd suit her so I got them :-)
Am I overthinking this? Probably lol!! I mentioned it my husband and he started laughing :-)
Probably the mums with girls can help. Ta in advance xxx

I'm guessing they won't think the tights were unwanted gifts for your son!

Definitely overthinking- it'll be fine.

Your over thinking it (boys don't wear tights?)
I put my DD in blue. She looks beautiful in it. Blue is not a boy colour!

Yes, you are over thinking it. Don't have a girl myself, but know plenty who do. Also know plenty of little girls who look nicer in blue than pink. My bet is the mum will be delighted to have something different to put her in.

Honestly, if someone bought that for my daughter I would be SO chuffed! We were ankle deep in pink / sparkling / frilly bits the first year or so with her and it drove me mad. Now she's old enough to express a preference she's all about jeans and dungarees with tshirts and jumpers.

It'll be fine, don't worry.

I love both my DDs in blue. Plus I wouldn't give two hoots if someone did hand on they no longer need. It's all kindness, isn't it?

In fact my DiL did give me a set of boys clothes for DD1 in red and white that she's obviously never got around to using. It didn't bother me Grin

Over thinking indeed, my GD is often dressed in navy and white. Rarely in pink.

Your over thinking. I'd put DD in blue when she arrives.

DS was given some light pink polo tops when he was born, he looked cute in them.

I always buy non pink for baby girls and quite often blue as it is my favourite colour.

I like to think I'm waging a one woman war against the tide of pink that overwhelms us!

I'm sure your friend won't think you have regifted, you can include a gift receipt to show otherwise. But to those that say boys don't wear tights, well mine did, they are excellent under dungarees when very cold, socks always get lost!

Blue looks great on babies, particularly those with blue eyes as it really brings the colour out.

The only thing I'd wonder is that I have found that some clothes are cut differently for boys and girls, even from very young. So some of the 'boys clothes' I've bought for my DDs haven't fit very well at all. But maybe that's just my DDs.

That doesn't make sense pico. Children's body shapes are not gender specifc until they reach puberty.
It's the manufacturers that make different shape/sized clothing items based on gender, which is stupid

Sounds like a great present! Blue is a brilliant colour for girls and my DDs wear all colours. Don't worry - you're definitely overthinking!
Also, even if they were left over from your DS that would never bother most normal people!

Well the WHO growth charts show that a 50th centile boy would be 2cm taller and 0.5kg heavier than a 50th centile girl at 12 months, so there is a size difference, if not a shape difference.

But leaving that aside, my point is that the manufacturers do make them to fit differently. My DD2 has 'boy' and 'girl' envelope shouldered vests from Tesco. The boy ones are wider and tend to fall down her shoulders. DD1 won't wear jeans, I think because most of the 'girl' ones she tried were a slim cut and quite restrictive, 'boy' ones are generally a more relaxed fit.

Some girls look good in blue. My daughter is gingery-blonde and doesn't suit pink (though she loves it) so she is in blue a lot. She is currently wearing a blue sparkly tutu and wings!

Overthinking - I would have been delighted when my daughter was born/aged 1 - not a pink fan but I love blue!
