Blue presents for a girl?

Bipet1984 · 05/06/2016 15:20

We're going to a 1st birthday party to our friends' girl and I've got her blue dungarees and blue ans white tights from Debenhams along with some chocolates.
Now, I have a boy similar age.
I am afraid that the presents will come off as unwanted presents I kept from my boy (as they are blue) and just offloading. But they are not, I just thought they'd suit her so I got them :-)
Am I overthinking this? Probably lol!! I mentioned it my husband and he started laughing :-)
Probably the mums with girls can help. Ta in advance xxx

pico has a point - I bought DD a range of stuff from Jojo in the sale, including a mixture of boys' and girls' t-shirts. The boys' t-shirts were significantly wider and a little longer than the girls'.

It's fine. Sounds a great present.

cornishglos · 05/06/2016 20:32

I love blue and hate pink no matter who wears them. My son does wear tights under dungerees though.

TowerRavenSeven · 05/06/2016 20:32

I have a boy but would live it for a girl! Never in a million years would I think it leftovers from your son. Would never enter my mind!

Cerseirys · 05/06/2016 20:33

Careful OP, if you give the little one a blue outfit then by the next day she's sure to have grown a penis Shock

KatharinaRosalie · 05/06/2016 20:33

yes the different cuts is true - and totally ridiculous. As PP said, boy and girl babies don't have different shapes. But girl clothes are cut slimmer. I have a slim DS and strong DD, and I always have to buy them clothes meant for the opposite sex.

KatharinaRosalie · 05/06/2016 20:34

Oh and of course it's fine to buy baby girl blue clothes.

I would be over the moon if somebody bought some non pink clothes for my daughter!

lozengeoflove · 05/06/2016 21:30

Errr boys do wear tights, or is just that girls get cold legs? Silly me! I'll make sure to tell my son when he's a little older that he must suffer in silence because he's the wrong sex for this particular item of clothing Hmm

Friend of mine buys boys' tights when she goes home to Poland - she can get Y-front ones. He wears them in winter under his football kit.

cornishglos · 05/06/2016 22:46

H&M sell boys tights. Not that they need to be 'boys' as boys legs are no different to girls legs.

MidniteScribbler · 05/06/2016 23:07

Don't overthink it. I don't like pink, so any little girls I buy for get blue or other coloured items. No one has ever suggested they were cast offs - you can usually tell by the cut or labelling anyway.

beetroot2 · 05/06/2016 23:08

Boys do wear tights too where I live. Its fine.
