He mismanaged the economy, claimed he had eliminated boom and bust, said he would spend his way out of recession by borrowing more money. The list goes on.

He's now back to tell us not to vote out..

I'm voting to stay in, but I agree.

I'm sick of seeing Blair(especially!) and Brown pop up on our tv screens giving us their advice. Every time I see Blair I get peed off and turn the channel over.

Yes I'm with you on Blair, I dont think it really matters what way you are voting but I don't think anyone is welcoming them back!

Can't stand the man, but he deserves full credit for keeping Britain out of the Euro, when Blair wanted us to join.

The overwhelming stupidity of the majority of the electorate who believe a particular politician or immigrants or poor people are to blame for the economic crisis just baffles and angers me.

But Brown sold off our gold reserves at a bargain price, at the bottom of the market. He didn't need to do that, and we've suffered from it ever since.

I'm with Indrid, he kept us out of the Euro and deserves great credit for that.

Labour might not have been responsible for causing the crash. But they were certainly responsible for creating an economy so unprepared for it that the effects were so devastating.

I am not keen on the man's politics, but as a person I regard him as a man with a great deal of integrity who sticks by his principles. Would take him over Blair any day.

As much as I agree with slugtank with the actual cause of the economic crisis.

Blair knew exactly what was happening and to an extent Brown as the chancellor bares some responiablity. Although I do think he was set up

The idea that Gordon Brown caused a crash that affected USA, Germany, France, etc just as much as us is suggesting he had a lot more power than any British prime minister could ever have.
What he did do was to save the banks (all our savings) and borrow / spend to ensure millions of people kept their jobs.

I don't mind Gordon Brown (texture like sun) meself. I do believe he meant well- and that's more that can be said for 99.9% of politicians.

Agree with Naught tho in that most people are basing their decision on picking which public figure they hate the most- and then doing the opposite of what they recommend.

I disagree. I think that Gordon Brown was unfairly lambasted by the press.

He did right by us re: the Euro and also safeguarded foreign aid (in an era of increased Ukippyness - why send our money abroad?) at a a rate of 0.7% which was something that we have been working towards since 1970!!!

I think he had a bit of a raw deal being a labour Mp post Blair's labour. I think I trust Gordon Brown's motives.

I'm not a Gordon a Brown fan but the bullshit that surrounds him is astounding.

Not only was he NOT responsible for causing a global financial crisis single handedly, but he also WAS actually responsible for managing the effects in the UK to ensure that we were not as badly affected as most of our European neighbours. He followed proven economic theories (Keynesian), which many may not agree with, but were actually lauded by economists (I.e. Not right wing propagandists but people who actually know their stuff) from all over. The negativity on his handling of it all and the idea that he actually caused the recession mainly came about when certain propaganda machines decided to make him a scape goat to push forward their political agenda.

Whether a person likes his form of politics or agrees with the economic theories he used, is one thing. Ignorant rhetoric based on ludicrous propaganda is another.

But then this is a country where people believe that somehow illegal immigrants are able to get free houses and a small fortune in benefits and that we are over run with them, along with people faking disabilities just to get out of working. I shouldn't be surprised!

If you're going to base your decision about the EU referendum on personalities, then the remain camp wins hands down. When you look at Gove's appalling record on education, IDS's even more appalling record in everything he's done, and the fact that Johnson is blatantly focussed solely on his personal political career - why on earth would you ever trust their judgment?

Well that's true JJ if you look st the appalling state Ireland was in then I wouldn't hold anything against Brown. I actually think as a prime minster he was far better than Blair. I think people confuse his regime with Blairs and put them together.

Yes I'm not sure Blair is doing the remain campaign any good just because of him, but I'd rather Brown and Camaron than trust a single word Farage Johnson Gove and IDS say.

Apparently Farage and Johnson would be the leave campaigns dream team. Heaven help us!

The UK is hardly great, he's helped create the biggest bubble in property we have ever seen, started the road to getting into massive debt and was partly responsible for devaluing the currency.

Our European neighbours have crashed and are now in recovery. We haven't and are still on the edge. Iceland crashed and is now recovered. We are sill on life support. He may have delayed the crash but it will still come
