Some friends of mine go on constantly about "The TST", but they won't let me in on what the TST actually is!? Angry

I know it's become a bit of an in-joke now, but I'm not very trendy (think fleeces and building your own PC Blush) and I'm worried that I'm missing out on something cool and well-known that I should be aware of.

Can any kind mumsnetters enlighten me?

Talk to you soon!

No idea!

The Terrifying Secret Terrapin?
The Truthful Sexy Trumpet?
The Train to Scotland's Teahouses?

Somerville · 02/06/2016 00:20

The only TST I know is an area in Hong Kong.

I kind of want to Google but I've been caught out before on here. This might be an elaborate ruse to get MNetters Googling something unspeakable.

TyneTeas · 02/06/2016 00:22

The Secret Thing??

TheoGB · 02/06/2016 00:23

I don't think it is anything unspeakable Somerville - at least I haven't come across it yet in my own googling if it is!!

Any context? Urban dictionary has a few possible definitions.

AMR123456 · 02/06/2016 00:24

I just googled it and there were over 60 things it could be an abbreviation for. Had quick look & nothing rude jumped out at meHmm

Somerville · 02/06/2016 00:26

Oh good so it's not the latest incarnation of dragons butter.

Bit shit of your friends really. I think Tyne has it - The Secret Thing.

AJ279 · 02/06/2016 00:27

I don't know but I think your friends are dicks.

TheoGB · 02/06/2016 00:28

Hmm, that's actually quite plausible TyneTeas, but then they always seem to deliberately say The TST and surely no one would be odd enough to say The The Secret Thing!?

RegentsParkWolf · 02/06/2016 00:30

Yes they would. How many people call it a PIN number?

claw12 · 02/06/2016 00:31

sounds like they are getting you at!

Anyone who talks constantly in abbreviations is a knob and far from cool Grin

TheoGB · 02/06/2016 00:33

They're alright really. Like I say, I'm definitely not as cool as they are and it might just be I've missed out on something that's been staring me in the face for ages so it's become a little something to tease me with. No harm intended I'm sure, just shabs and bants. Grin

In terms of context? I know they're very much into Father Ted and also music, but mainly from a few years ago now to be honest. Not sure that helps very much!

Somerville · 02/06/2016 00:36

It's not cool to purposely leave a friend out. If you've actually asked what it means, they should tell you.

TyneTeas · 02/06/2016 00:37

the Terribly Secret Thing??

(I am absolutely guessing Grin)

claw12 · 02/06/2016 00:39

An 'in joke' that you are not in on! Would drive me nuts!

claw12 · 02/06/2016 00:42

claw12 · 02/06/2016 00:43

Thinking same thing

Pinkheart5915 · 02/06/2016 00:44

All I can think is an area of Hong Kong ?

TyneTeas · 02/06/2016 00:44

or the Totally Secret Thing

pieceofpurplesky · 02/06/2016 00:44

TheUnsullied · 02/06/2016 00:48

I would not worry about it, they obviously are still at school in their heads, they are the childish ones not you. They are also ignorant and spiteful to taunt you. Drop them find new pals they are not worth your time.

TheoGB · 02/06/2016 08:03
