Some friends of mine go on constantly about "The TST", but they won't let me in on what the TST actually is!? Angry

I know it's become a bit of an in-joke now, but I'm not very trendy (think fleeces and building your own PC Blush) and I'm worried that I'm missing out on something cool and well-known that I should be aware of.

Can any kind mumsnetters enlighten me?

Talk to you soon!

I am betting it's 'the secret thing' and they aren't letting you in on it because it's designed to wind you up.

Which makes them tossers.

You say you aren't as 'cool' as them. I think you and them think they are 'cooler' than they are.

TheoGB · 02/06/2016 08:14

Oh, I see! Blush

Well, I'm sure they would say I can be a bit of a tit at times, but I don't think that's it...

Just ignore it from now on with a grin and move the conversation on, and they'll get all eager to tell you about it. Schoolchildren the lot of them!

SqueegyBeckinheim · 02/06/2016 08:30

If my eight year old told me she was hanging around with a group of children who kept talking in code and not letting her in on secrets, I'd tell her these children weren't her friends and were being nasty at her expense. Bants is often a cover word for bullying, "why are you getting so upset, it's only bants". It doesn't really matter what TST means, your "friends" are cockwombles.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 02/06/2016 08:31

I'm completely Hmmat your friends about this.

Keep referring to them as POT from now on...(Pair Of Twats)

AugustaFinkNottle · 02/06/2016 08:38

Surely there must be some context to it? e.g. Does it sound like it's a place, or an activity, or an object? Or do they just inanely come up with meaningless sentences containing TST and then giggle about it?

TheoGB · 02/06/2016 08:56

The context is pretty difficult to define really. We might be having a conversation and they'll say something like "Oh, that sounds like a thing for the old TST" or "you wouldn't understand, that's a TST thing" and then I ask what the TST is and they never give me a straight answer.

Are you sure it's not something really obvious and you're all having me on as well?? Grin

I wonder if it's ??? support team?

Somerville · 02/06/2016 09:18

TheoGB I knew my spidey senses were tingling for a reason! You were the OP behind Balonz.

Are we going to get a pile-on of chaps from your forum any moment now??

TheoGB · 02/06/2016 09:25

Somerville They won't tell me what the TST is!! Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

OP posts:
Somerville · 02/06/2016 09:29

Well we've promised them that we won't either, so you'll have to try NetHuns.

TheoGB · 02/06/2016 09:30

Balonz? Is that a TST?

TheVermiciousKnid · 02/06/2016 09:46

Tough shit, Theo.

storminabuttercup · 02/06/2016 10:10

I had this with some friends they had this little secret code, would use it as a hash tag etc.
Turns out it was directly about me. I just stopped seeing them, they are still on my FB friends and they seem to have a few new codes now.
They are complete twunts
Not saying this is the case here though.
By the way I started using the full words as my own hash tag for a few weeks. Imagine they were saying #SID
I would put #stormisdull
Childish but wanted them to know I knew!

Somerville · 02/06/2016 10:26

Shhhh, don't tell Theo what it means anyone. Angry

Oh and here's a link to the mildly amusing hilarious Balonz

Janecc · 02/06/2016 11:05

No idea. They really do belong in the playground. Tell them you've decided they're TST: the stupid twunts/twins or some such.

sugarapplelane · 02/06/2016 11:36

Ummm - you're not being helpful Sommerville.

If I were you I would ignore your annoying mates who keep on using this damn irritating code. What a bunch of childish twunts. Sounds like a bit of playground bullying to me.

branofthemist · 02/06/2016 11:39

So not your friends then, someone on a forum?

Somerville · 02/06/2016 11:44

I'm not trying to be helpful.

When someone does a fictitious thread, importing an obscure in-joke from another forum, and then comes back without name changing with something else obscure from the other forum, he can't expect us to take this one seriously.

And Theo will know that if he, as a big user of their forum, can't work out what they mean by TST, then there's no way for us to work it out.

Merd · 02/06/2016 11:56

Er ... yeah. That's a little bit weird in the trying-too-hard-to-be-funny sort of way there Theo.

HesMyLobster · 02/06/2016 12:14

Ooh well spotted Somerville!
I did love the Ballonz thread, one of my favourites purely because the other forum were so surprised at how funny mnetters are!

sugarapplelane · 02/06/2016 12:23

Ahhh - I see - I wasn't aware of the "other" thread!

MooseAndSquirrel · 02/06/2016 12:24

Yanbu your friends are dicks.
But I dont really care, all I care about now is, did you name your ds balonz????
Just read that entire thread and it was so worth it (fwiw I actually really like data as a girls name although makes me think of goonies)
YABU if you didn't use balonz!

sugarapplelane · 02/06/2016 12:26

If you're for real Theo then take my advice - your friends are a bunch of irritating, childish twunts.

If you're not for real then F**K off back to the baby names forum and stop wasting our time!
