They still seem to be making them, even though there has been campaigns for years about how bad they are . They aren't affective and there are plenty of natural effective ways that do work to exfoliate.

Boots have just sent me a mail with offers including Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Oil-Free Daily Scrub - by J&J and they are still in it! :

I find threads like this so useful as this is the type of thing you don't realise until its brought to your attention, the same with the "flushable" toddler wipes thread earlier in the week. Its no wonder that we are slowly destroying the planet when we don't even realise we are doing it!

Micro beads are awful things, and a decent, gentle daily scrub wouldn't have that awful stuff in.

YANBU. I think they should be banned - they are totally non-essential and very damaging to the environment.

Quite possibly. I don't! But thgen I don't use the, to me, unecessary products that might contain them.

Everyone has their gaps in knowledge. Everyone has gaps in their eco frindliness. I, for example, really can't get excited but the fcat that there are little plastic balls in exfoliateing creams as I have never seen the poiunt of buying the exfoliators in the first place, so why would I know the bloody things exist?

I see how that could get peoples back up, I did mean it more out of desperation that its been years and the message hasn't got out about these silly balls.

YANBU... I spent ages in Boots the other week trying to find a scrub without them. In the end, a quick google search brought up a PDF with a full list of non-microbead containing scrubs. There should be more awareness, you're right, but it would take a cosmetic company or big viral campaign to have the kind of impact necessary to change the public consciousness on this imo

What do you do with the coconut oil afterwards or is that a joke? That could clog up drains.
