It's a bit silly - DP wants an electric car and I'm all for it, for many reasons. However, the one that has now caught his eye is a Renault and has the same name as a woman he had an emotional affair with. I don't think I can stand to hear that name being repeated on a daily basis. WIBU to ask him not to buy it?

These questions would only be spoken thus if he had 25 cars and had to differentiate between them and if he did, I'm guessing they'd be big hungry Italian beasts that are the complete opposite of a wee electric thing

DP does use words like - I'll take the Galaxy, where are the Galaxy keys? etc etc (he has a Ford Galaxy) or his motorbike - 'I'm going on the 'K' today.
He may not use it on a daily basis, but while he's doing his research, he keeps talking about ' the..... er........Renault'. It's the elephant in the room.

I couldn't be doing with that! I'd be eating a bar of galaxy a day if I heard 'Galaxy' all the time.

It does sound a bit daft when you think about it, but actually I really don't think you're being unreasonable.

I hate the name Charlotte forever because my teenaged boyfriend (I was also a teenager at the time) cheated on me with a Charlotte. So if it was my DH it would be even worse!

We say "will we go in the Golf or the Audi", so it's perfectly normal to call the car the model name.

So no, I would not be happy about my DP buying a car with the name of his ex-affair partner.

Oh god an ex cheated on me with a girl called Rachel. I foolishly forgave him, but even hearing him say the name (we had a frlend called Rachel) used to set my teeth on edge.

Oddly he gave his first daughter the same name as me. I often wonder if his now wife knew it was an exes name - if so, she's much more chilled out than me.

Off on a tangent here, but also regarding The Research.... Have you noticed how 'buying a car research' is always so mindnumbingly indepth in comparison to less important things like choosing schools or buying houses?
