AIBU to hide this friends' posts on Facebook

A friend of mine is constantly posting photos of her and her DH having meals out, sometimes alone, sometimes with friends or going walking at National Trust places. It is every day almost as they are retired. I find it quite tedious so have hidden her posts and am seeing her this evening and I know the first thing she will ask is have I seen her Facebook photos. Do other people do that? It just seems like constant bragging and not at all interesting after the first 100 photos of them with a glass of wine in their hand. AIBU?

I don't yabu - just say " probably....you know what my memory is like haha " or something similar

Just say no you have not seen them.
Just because she posts pictures on fb does not mean you have to look at them

I don't think you're BU, I have people I am friends with but I'm not bothered about seeing every single update, so I've unfollowed them. It doesn't hurt their feelings, as they don't know.

If she goes out of her way to ask you about her photos it sounds a little desperate, maybe she's seeking some external validation? If it were me I probably tell her I didn't see them and leave it at that

Iv unfollowed loads of people even a close friend who is quite frankly a pain in the are on Fb. It's embarrassing because iv had at least five of my other friends who are acquaintences with her mention to me how annoying she is on it. She isn't like that in real life. So when she asks did you see X on fb I just say no sorry I never seen that on my time line.

One day she asked about three different things and it felt awkward like she suspected. So now I go on every so often and like a few things and will have a quick look before we catch up.

I would delete it but my dh works away in different countries and we keep in touch via messenger and I like seeing his and his workmates different pics of places they are.

Jus5t have a quick look on her timeline...pick a place she has been too and say "Oh what was x like ?"

I'm new to Facebook and the posts you're describing sound much better than the shite that comes up on my timeline everyday. Mine is filled with passive aggressive messages that I don't believe are actually aimed at anyone; 'to the haters: you can try to keep me down but I'll just keep getting back up and showing you what I'm made of' yes, ok settle down sausage.

I'd quite like seeing photos of restaurants and NT places, I'd see it more as inspiration on where I might like to go or avoid in future!

I had a bit of a paddy a while back (see username) and unfollowed everyone who'd posted anything I found irritating on Facebook over a period of four days.

I now get updates from about six people. Life is better. I am less irked and spend less time on fb and more time on MN

I do, however, have a quick nosey on friends' pages occasionally, so that they don't twig.

YANBU to hide the pictures if they are irritating to you.

YABU to start a thread about it - either do it or don't do it, but don't ask for validation on it. It's a non-issue.

FB is inherently narcissistic, nobody posts anything on there except in the hope of getting likes for it. Just hide their posts, you don't have to unfollow them. The minutiae of other people's lives is incredibly dull.

This is true even of people you haven't hidden. There's an ongoing debate about how to overcome it (half solved).

YANBU. FB is different things to different people, I like the headlines, not the narcissistic duck pouts and constant updates/gazillion photos. I too have hidden some people due to their persistent posting of rubbish, but fair play, they post what they like, I just don't have to read it all.

Just tell her you're not on FB much, you don't have time etc.

I unfollow people all the time.

Recently a friend who posts continuous pics of her toddler in a bin, in the dog bed, crying, throwing a tantrum.

The other a new mum and her newborn and constant moans about being a mum/no sleep/ proud mummy/ struggles of breastfeeding/formula hating/strong viewed bullshit.

Yes just say you haven't looked at FB much recently. It's not like being tested on homework, you don't have to do it

Don't think that people post just for likes my mil lives abroad and her family is spread out over the Uk as a family we all post a lot it keeps us connected and she loves it. I love timehop so I often post days put etc so I get a nice memory jog.

I'm on the verge of unfollowing a good friend who checks in everywhere. Car park, office, supermarket, home, every single day. Who would possibly be interested? Crazy!

Interesting replies thanks. Seems a mix but I have unfollowed her anyway and she did ask tonight but I said I had not seen the pics. I like fb to keep in touch with relatives/friends who live miles away and sometimes it is nice to see the photos of people's days out to give ideas. Each to their own I guess.

I just don't get all this MN angst about Facebook. If you don't like it, unfollow or defriend!
I'm probably one of those annoying people who is hidden by most of my friends as I tend to post pictures of family days out, meals out with DH, or random pics of my lunch.
That's what FB's FOR, though - to share your life with friends. If you're not happy seeing friends, colleagues or whatever be content, do them a favour if you're not interested in them and hide or delete!
