To actually be considering slashing this womans tyres?

Wanted to get to a chiller cabinet in morrisons and someone had left a trolley with a baby in the way. So i moved the trolley forward so I could get to what I want.

Que mother attacking me for trying to run off with her baby. I moved the trolley maybe half a metre if that. It took 3 seconds and when she came over I was clearly looking in the chiller cabinet at the meat.

I told her to get a grip, I wanted to get to the cabinet and I moved the trolley so I could get to what I wanted. No idea whos trolley it was as I had come down from another part of the supermarket and just saw the trolley-didnt pay any attention to anyone around me. Que a 2 minute tirade of abuse- I just rolled my eyes and walked off in the end.

Went out to my car and was sat having a cogarette waiting for a friend to call about coming to meet me. The car park is owned by the council, not the supermarket.

Anyway the woman came out- and was parked in the P+C bay next to me (I have a blue badge before I am flamed because im child free)

I looked up from my car and the woman just gave me a filthy look and stormed off in the direction of the supermarket again. Next thing I know the supervisor is knocking on my window asking me to move along as im making her uncomfortable "watching her child". I explained the situation and that the supermarket have no right to ask me to move- its not their property, id paid for 2 hours parking and I would be staying until my friend got in contact. The supervisior then apologised, and went on her way.

the woman has gone back into the supermarket, no idea why- clearly im going to attack her and steal her child Hmm

I wouldn't move a trolley with someone sat in it. I think it's rude.

Parents can panic when it comes to their babies. We've all been there. Total overreaction on her part but you telling her to 'get a grip' would probably have been rather confrontational and was very unnecessary.

She sounds a little pfb about the whole thing (not to mention gobby; two minutes tirade is two minutes she could've been getting on with her dull shopping. I can be in and out of a supermarket with a week's worth of stuff inside 40 minutes if I power walk and run folk over who are in my way; who has time to spend ages shouting at strangers?). However, parents of young children are often so, so tired and fed up and 'grrrrr' that they'll occasionally explode and attempt to kill with their teeth anything in their way. Hopefully she was just having a shitty day and is usually a great deal nicer.

Don't slash her tyres though. Follow her home in your car to really freak her out.

(I'm joking, before anyone shouts at me).

I would have moved her trolley, op didn't move it far and if woman is that concerned she should have bloody stayed with said trolley

She sounds like a nutter hard work but bear in mind a child was taken from a Primark store this week.
I wouldn't personally leave my DC (when they were babies) unattented but I do get pi**ed off if someone pushes my trolley out the way "I am HERE y'know"

The P&C parking, well she's probably one of those who'll report anyway. (No DC in a P&C, no BB in a BB Space etc. Some people are walking vigilantes)
I'm surprised the Supervisor didn't tell her to go whistle.

Possibly rude to move the trolley possibly rude to leave it unattended in peoples way. Definately weird overeaction by crazy overprotective woman yanbu

I'm no lawyer, but I don't think the provocation you've experienced constitutes a legal defence against charges of criminal damage.

I think she was being pfb, but if you are actually considering slashing her tyres, then you are the one with the bigger problem.

Of course I wasnt actually considering it. I gave a friendly wave when I saw her sat in the cafe as I drove out of the car park. She didnt look impressed

I wouldn't generally move a trolley with a child in it but if there is no parent obviously around what else are you supposed to do.

Any minute now we're going to get another AIBU about the crazy woman who moved a child in a trolley in the supermarket, told the mother to get a grip when she complained, and is now sitting in the car park spying on her child with the intention of kidnapping it.

I would have moved the trolley too, If she didn't want it moved she should have kept it with her and not obstructed the freezer/fridge whatever. She obviously wasn't that bothered about someone 'stealing' her baby if she left it unattended Hmm

Yabu to be considering slashing her tyres but not for being annoyed. Who leaves their DC in an unsupervised trolley anyway? Silly cow!

It's a real pet hate of mine when people wander off, leaving their trolley wherever they want and everyone else to struggle round it. I always make a point of moving them out of the way, much to the annoyance of DH Grin

Why, ImNot? If you leave your trolley obstructing the way to one of the cabinets, are the other customers supposed to wait politely till you deign to come back rather than move your trolley a couple of feet?
