We went to a theme park with friends today and their similarly aged DD (4 a few weeks ago) was 20cm taller than my DD Shock

Ds has just turned 4 and he is 115. I haveno idea where he gets it frm as both his father and I are tiny!

ForeverBeingFobbedOff · 11/04/2016 15:10

DD is coming up for 5 1/2 and is 112 cm - she seems average, maybe a bit on the tall-ish side for her peer group.

cestlavielife · 11/04/2016 16:47

Salami is protein, fat

cream crackers carbs

cucumber one of her five a day

And sometimes :

Smoothies one of her five a day
A little toast carb

cheese protein calcium

keep a diary of the quantities each day for a week, if she is eating enough of those she will be getting the calories. if quantity calories too little dietitian can suggest something eg bulk up smoothies with cream etc.

make sure it's full fat everything

little and often.

sothisishowitfeels it is about whether child is growing at all and is healthy not what eprcentile is. clearly some kids will be small - end of.
my dd13 is small.

my dd 16 was not growing AT ALL from age one to three only few cms over three years...she got stuck on 83 cm at age 3. she was falling off the charts completely. she was ill weak suffering very few items eaten...rate of growth should be 6 cm per year.

referred to growth clinic one of first tests they did was for coeliac this was proven correct. she began growing again after few months on gluten free diet. now a respectable five foot. she was never going to be tall, but she needed to be diagnosed

wasonthelist · 11/04/2016 16:55

Dd was 110-115 when she was 4. She wasn't an outlier as I recall.

confuseddotcom82 · 11/04/2016 17:13

About 105cm and almost 4.5. She still easily fits into 3-4 clothes but they are too short for her, 4-5 swamp her but are perfect height wise.

travellinglighter · 11/04/2016 17:57

When my DD was 4, I used to watch her line up for nursery class and she was a head taller than all the others. She was nearly off the gentile scale for length when she was born and she’s taller than her brother.

memememum · 11/04/2016 18:51

DS almost 4 and a half is 1.14 and is hugely tall compared to all his nursery class and also taller than the particularly short children in my daughter's year 2 class. (DD 128cm 7 years a head taller than everyone in her year barring 2 boys).

Flumplet · 11/04/2016 19:06

Just measured ds out of curiosity. He's 5 in July and measures 112cm.

Teabag2 · 11/04/2016 20:50

My DD who is 4.5 years old was 120cm a few weeks ago. I am 6ft and my husband is 6ft 6 so both my kids are inevitably going to be tall. She is head and shoulders above most of her nursery class mates and is now wearing size 6-7yrs for length as she has really long legs. People always think she is older than she is, mainly older generation feeling they have to comment on it like a few weeks ago a dear old lady on the local bus asking me why my child was not at school! Hmm

rugbychick · 11/04/2016 20:56

Dd age 4 and almost 2 weeks is 105 cm. Not bad considering she's got a short arse for a mother

rugbychick · 11/04/2016 21:00

Should add that in the majority of shops selling children's clothes dd has been wearing age 5-6 year clothes (with a little bit of fabric gathering at the ankle in leggings) since January

ToutVraimentRidicule1 · 11/04/2016 21:20

You think you have problems? My daughter is 15 months old and as of last night, 85cm. It's all in the genes really (and early nutrition)and every once in a while, there will be a 'perfect storm' of matches. My wife is very slim build but quite short, my grandmother was just under 6 feet and slim when she died (aged 94) mum is the same. I'm 6 feet, brother slightly taller. Uncle 6'7". Cousins around 6'5". My wife's family are all 'relatively' short but incredibly lean and proportioned.

We are currently buying 2 years old clothes for our daughter.

LadyLexy · 14/01/2024 21:26

My DD is 4 years old and is 3ft 11inches and her feet were measured in Clark’s shoe shop yesterday and she measures at a 13 G and wears 6/7 year old clothes I’m in shock how massive she is. Is anyone else DD this size or bigger at age 4?
