We went to a theme park with friends today and their similarly aged DD (4 a few weeks ago) was 20cm taller than my DD Shock

DS is 4yrs 3mths - 115cm
DD is 2yrs 1mth - 96cm

Also have people thinking DS is 6.

They also have feet like canal barges (sizes 12 and 8), meaning cute shoes were outgrown far too soon.

I am 6ft tall but small feet for my height (size 7).
Always been self-conscious of my height but prefer to think of myself just to make myself feel better as being at the pinnacle of evolution. Hmm

feelingmiffed · 10/04/2016 22:59

The RCPCH website has centile charts you can look at. It seems your girls are around the 2nd centile?

feelingmiffed · 10/04/2016 23:03

At 4 my DS2 was 114cm, he's now 7 and 132cm - I'm 5ft 7 and DH is 6ft

Can't remember DS1's height at that age but he was similar, he's now 12 and 5ft 4in

LissaLoves · 10/04/2016 23:06

Thanks feeling miffed. Is it a cause for concern that they're so low? DD4 is losing weight (1st percentile for weight) and is under assessment for ASC but I'm not getting anywhere fast. She only eats six foods Sad

My just turned 5 year old is 105 cm.

AgathaMystery · 10/04/2016 23:43

96cm

JockTamsonsBairns · 10/04/2016 23:44

Feelingmiffed I just had a look at that website. Ds is on the 0.4th centile - I'm not sure exactly what that means, other than he's particularly small for his age!

edwinbear · 10/04/2016 23:46

Dd 4.4 is 119cm, which was 1cm too short for the fairground ride she wanted to go on last weekend Sad

Xmasbaby11 · 10/04/2016 23:47

Dd is 4.2 and about 100cm. She's in age 4-5 clothes but some are short for her.

RainbowDashian · 10/04/2016 23:49

Ds2 is 4 and is 100cm.

Vixyboo · 10/04/2016 23:52

My 22 month old is 85cm! He is noticeably taller than his peers. My friend's son, same age, is 74cm! Both are lovely boys, developing well. One is dinky, one is a giant lol! I am 5'3", I do worry he will reach shelves where I hide things from him before he's 5!! I love being little though

Honkyponk · 10/04/2016 23:53

My DD is 3.5 yrs and 112cm, and towers above most of her peers. She is often mistaken for being older but I don't think that matters too much, she knows her age!

SansaClegane · 10/04/2016 23:57

My 4yo is 116cm, my 2yo is 95cm... I think my eldest (just turned 7) has slowed down a bit now, he's 130cm or thereabouts.
I'm 5'7" but the shortest in my family (even my mum's taller than me!), the same goes for DH, so I think the tall gene just skipped us but the DC have it Grin DS1 especially reminds me of my brother who is 6'5".

Sheepasaurus · 11/04/2016 00:05

My daughter has just turned 4 and is 116cm with size 10. 5 feet. She often gets comments about how tall she is and gets mistaken for an older child.

cestlavielife · 11/04/2016 00:07

So long as following the line whether it's 0.2 or 2nd centile ìt s not an issue.
Measure now and every month if growing steadily eg 0.5 cm per month all good. If not growing ask for tests. Dd was 82 cm at 3 and stayed there...dropped off chart completely. diagnosed coeliac age four. She also had limited food and asd like behavioural issues which disappeared once diagnosed coeliac and on gf diet.

So monitor growth but some kids are just small. Othrr dd followed 2nd centile all along. Others if not growing along the line may have coeliac or other issues.

Hirosleaftunnel · 11/04/2016 02:54

DS 4.5 yrs old 116cm with 11.5 feet. His dad and I are both tiny. He was a 9.5 pound baby though. Always been on 91/98 percentile for weight and height despite being a super picky eater.

Mistigri · 11/04/2016 06:18

Mine were both about 106cm when they turned 4, so a bit taller than average but not huge.

It doesn't tell you anything about future height though! DD was fairly tall right through childhood but her adult height is short. Her brother looks likely to end up taller than either of his parents. Their heights at age 4 were within a centimetre of each other!

Busybuzzybumblebee · 11/04/2016 06:37

Ds is 26 month and 92cm on the 99.6 centile, his hv at his check said she'd never seen such a tall 3 year old Smile

NicknameUsed · 11/04/2016 07:29

DD grew from 105 to 111 cm during the 10 month period that I recorded her height at age 4. She was 134 cm at 8.5.

At nearly 16 she is 5' 6", so just 2" above average height for a woman.

bluejasmin · 11/04/2016 07:39

I'm not Sure on my four year olds exact height but he is the smallest in his whole school and everyone refers to him as little blue . We are both tall but recently our Dd was under failure to thrive but after all the tests , hospital appoints , etc it turns out she's just petite . The other kids are all very tall for their ages .

Paddingtonthebear · 11/04/2016 07:52

3.5yr old DD is about 98cm. Which I believe is completely average. Size 3-4 trousers are big on her .Most people seem to think she is quite tall though for some reason.

BrightandEarly · 11/04/2016 07:52

One of my DC is short (not very, 25th centile). The other is really tall (98th centile).

At age 2 DC2 is now almost the same height as DC1 who is nearly 4! The nearly 4 year old was 95cm at Christmas, last time I measured.

winchester1 · 11/04/2016 07:54

Bloody hell my kids are giants 15month old is 83cm and the 2.7 yr old around 95cm. We get the odd comment but I hadn't thought they were this odd in height.
I thought standing with me, a 5ft adult was just making them look tall.

But as others said if the are following their centile line and weight and height centiles roughly match it's all fine.
They don't make gems as big as bricks.Smile

LatriceRoyale · 11/04/2016 07:54

My soon to be 4 year old girl is 110cm.

allowlsthinkalot · 11/04/2016 07:58

There is a huge variation and healthy children come in all sizes. I have one dd who wore 7-8 clothes at 4 and was head and shoulders above the rest of her class. My other dd still wears 2-3 clothes at 4 and is 3ft 3. I'm not sure what that is in cm but she is little!
