To the lady who said;
"Oh, hell"
as I ran passed while you cycled with your family. I do NOT need comments like that!
Yes, I'm over weight. I'm trying to become fitter some of us aren't graced with a loving husband, or nice body.

Costacoffeeplease · 31/03/2016 20:22

Do you know she was definitely referring to you?

RJnomore1 · 31/03/2016 20:24

Did you make her wobble on her bike?

Good on you running. I'm proud of you.

Squiff85 · 31/03/2016 20:24

What a dick! Ignore her. Well done you!

londonrach · 31/03/2016 20:24

I bet she didnt even see you. I bet it was oh hell i forgot the dog, child, wine or similar. How do you know it was about you?

raininginspringtime · 31/03/2016 20:25

Some people do insist Mumsnet is filled with paranoid people. I accept OP it was aimed at you if you said it was. Worry not, some people are just tossers.

TheWitTank · 31/03/2016 20:26

Was she definitely referring to you? Seems an odd comment if it was meant to be about your size.

PPie10 · 31/03/2016 20:27

Yabu and sound a bit sensitive about your weight. You absolutely cannot know she meant that, and that is an odd leap to make Anyway.

RubbleBubble00 · 31/03/2016 20:31

my friend is very overweight and pear shaped but she's trying and cycles miles everyday wearing non Lycra or tight clothing - nearly everyday she gets negative comments - people are just twats

Freeandsinglewater · 31/03/2016 20:31

It was when she was in front of me. There was no one else around, and she seemed very stable on her bike.

Also she was clad in all the new gear, not a trace of mud or dirt on her. I on the other hand, was wearing pretty much all second hand stuff.

You can win with arse holes, in this world.
You don't exercise youre lazy. If you do arse holes think they have permission to say anything they like, because. You carry a bit of extra weight around.

Who else is she shouting things at like a teenager, mind you. Teenagers IME. Don't behave like that.
Also, how do you know her husband is loving. You don't live with them. It's very easy, Free, for people to paint a pretty pictute

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 31/03/2016 20:32

Line 1. Can't win. Not can win

witsender · 31/03/2016 20:33

If she was in front of you how was she looking at you? It sounds like an odd thing to say of she was thinking what you think she was.

But, keep going. You're awesome and more people need to do it! like me

ElleGrace · 31/03/2016 20:34

Ignore her OP. People like this are the most insecure so they put you down in order to try and make themselves feel better.
Good on you for running, I've recently picked it back up again after a long, long break and I promise you it's gets easier, better and more fun with every run.

almostthirty · 31/03/2016 20:34

Could it be 'oh hell' as in I must be unfit if even a runner is going faster than me (as I would expect a cyclist to be much faster than a runner).

mamacasshadahairyass · 31/03/2016 20:35

Well maybe she isnt graced with a loving husband and has worked hard to get that body and her clothes? Bitter much?

raininginspringtime · 31/03/2016 20:36

Oh for goodness sakes, can we just maybe accept that OP knows it was aimed at her, and not sit around insisting she's wrong?

I don't doubt people can be total cocks. It just seems an odd thing to say if she was trying to slag off your weight. I'm a great one for talking to myself and exclaiming out loud -I often have people saying 'sorry?' thinking I was speaking to them. The new gear could have meant she was new to the bike and shitting herself about passing you and not falling off/steering around. Who knows. She could have just been horrible. Who cares? You don't know her, she doesn't know you. Keep up the running and enjoy it. FYI I've been going to the gym for over 20 years 5 times a week and my gear all looks brand new -I'm a sucker for pristine trainers and have too many loads of gym leggings and tops. I don't think it matters at all if your stuff is second hand or new as long as it's comfortable and you like it!

shazzarooney99 · 31/03/2016 20:55

You havent a clue why she was saying "oh hell!" could have been for a multitude of reasons, get a grip will ya!

raininginspringtime · 31/03/2016 20:56

I had a thread a few weeks ago that was similar, OP, don't worry about it. Mumsnet LOVES finding the least-plausible reason why someone could have been rude and using it as a way to stick the boot in because clearly, this person is a lovely individual who just happened to be saying 'oh, hell!' as you passed!

PPie10 · 31/03/2016 20:56

Sounds like you are projecting massively here.

HelsBels3000 · 31/03/2016 21:01

Or you could just carry on running, not give it a second thought, and be thankful for your body that allows you to run, that isn't holding you back or giving you so much pain you can't exercise.
preach sorry!

BillSykesDog · 31/03/2016 21:01

Yep, projecting. If she'd said 'Oi fatty' or something like that I'd understand. But 'Oh hell', she could just have remembered she'd forgotten to switch on the slow cooker or forgotten someone's birthday!

Anyone would think people just wanted to stick the boot into the OP ... Surely not.
