Posted alongside a picture of a massive pile of presents.....

Thank you to everyone who came to xxxx's baby shower today, we are going to make a fortune on EBay!

So glad I didn't go or buy them a present!

Are you sure it wasn't a joke?

AugustaFinkNottle · 27/03/2016 23:32

Well, that's one way to make sure no-one ever gives you a present again.

WorraLiberty · 27/03/2016 23:33

Haha! That's the sort of thing I'd say Easter Grin

In my wildest dreams I couldn't imagine anyone on my friend list taking it so seriously, that they started a thread on another forum.

milkysmum · 27/03/2016 23:33

I would take that as a joke to be honest!

WorraLiberty · 27/03/2016 23:34

And if they did and I got wind of it, I'd think of another 101 ways to wind them up Easter Wink

CatThiefKeith · 27/03/2016 23:34

There's history Worra. I truly believe he's only half joking...

Floggingmolly · 27/03/2016 23:34

Not an a particularly funny joke... God love them, thinking that was appropriate.
They must be quite breathtakingly thick.

DancingDinosaur · 27/03/2016 23:34

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 27/03/2016 23:35

Maybe it was a joke with reference to a conversation at the shower? Nobody would be that publicly obnoxious, would they?

You're being ridiculous no matter what the history, if you think they're seriously telling the gift givers their gifts are going to be sold on.

CatThiefKeith · 27/03/2016 23:36

In fairness I'm probably still holding a grudge.

He's dh's best mate and Ebayed the patio set I lent them for a BBQ last summer.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 27/03/2016 23:38

And did he announce on FB that he would be Ebaying your patio set?

CatThiefKeith · 27/03/2016 23:39

No, just mentioned it when I asked to pick it up 3 weeks later.

OP posts:
WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 27/03/2016 23:40

I hope you've replied with a suitably sarcastic comment about your patio set? Grin

fuzzywuzzy · 27/03/2016 23:42

Wow, did you get the money back he made for the patio set?

lamiashiro · 27/03/2016 23:42

Oh, I dunno. ExSiL was famous in our family for ebaying nearly everything we bought for her or the kids. One Christmas, I got her a really pretty silver charm bracelet which she'd said she liked. By new year it was on eBay listed as an 'unwanted present cos I prefer gold'. Never bought her anything again. Ungrateful caahh.

CatThiefKeith · 27/03/2016 23:46

Dh has made me promise I won't comment.

No I bloody didn't get the money. I got a couple of broken deck chairs back as they had forgotten who gave them what apparently. Hmm

OP posts:
bluebellforest · 27/03/2016 23:50

Sorry, but I can't get passed the fact that he Ebayed your patio set. WTF, cheeky bastard. I would have the rage with him forever. Shock Angry
Please come back and explain how he thought selling your stuff was okay.
What did he say? What did you say? What happened after? Did he replace the patio set? ÃŒf not, why not?
My head just can't get round this Confused Grin

bettyberry · 27/03/2016 23:51

I'd post a picture of the patio set. That's not commenting just sharing a photo Grin

FeelingSmurfy · 27/03/2016 23:54

Oh I think I remember that, did you post about it?

I would have thought they were joking, but if it was that person I would be fuming, even if I hadn't bought anything!

fabricbag · 27/03/2016 23:54

Haha yes do what Betty said Grin

CatThiefKeith · 27/03/2016 23:54

They had a massive BBQ / party, I lent my table and chairs, a couple of people gave them chairs, and they picked up another set on a free FB site.

He then Ebayed all of it, and I got back two vintage and broken deck chairs.

WorraLiberty · 27/03/2016 23:57

Actually, given what you've said about him ebaying your patio set, I'd say his status was probably aimed at you, and you've fallen for it hook, line and sinker.

I hope you made sure he replaced the set?
