A mum has just come on to my local forum ripping into a company for the following:
Maplin have remote control cars (I think) the kind kids can sit in

She said (edited out the swear words) "its so ridiculous that companies have these cars outside the shops. I am sick of having to make a detour to stop my son from taking a tantrum when he realises he can't have the car, they are so expensive it's not fair to do that to kids"

Does that mean I can come to Kurt Geiger for having shoes I can't afford on display

Grown adults aren't going to have tantrums abuoy not being allowed shoes though, are they?

I wouldn't actually complain about it, but my daughter would definitely have wanted to sit in one and had a tantrum about getting out when she was younger. I would have to detour round or face yet another melt down. I don't think it's PFB, its not wanting to have to go through the tantrum.

I actually kind of agree with her! I mean clearly she needs to be able to deal with her kid not having everything he wants and the ensuing tantrums, but stuff like that does make it harder than it needs to be and the company know exactly what they're doing.

And near me there's a BMW dealership and I can't afford any of their cars.

But kids do tantrum. Do we expect all fast food places to close. Toy shops to dismantle displays. Chocolate and sweets to be banned. All parents to have the ability to clone themselves and any loved toy.
Or should we just teach our kids you can't have everything in life.

I was just saying that I kind of understand what she means, but I think it's more entitled than PFB. And the Kurt Geiger/BMW thing is obviously not a fair comparison as no adults are going to put anyone out having a tantrum.

If you're actually going in to a toy shop then you're prepared and you're usually going to buy something, having the toys outside where you can't avoid them is different. I wouldn't complain about it but I would be swearing under my breath every time we had to walk past it.

She needs to get a grip. Shops display things. That's how they make money.

I used to go to Tesco a few times a week when my children were little and those rides were a real pain in the neck.

Has the woman ever heard of the expression No??? poor child, mother has to realise that saying no is actually a good thing, rather than giving into every whim.

Just wait until she encounters one of those cars in the playground and PFB realises some parents do buy them.

Alexa, my kids were kept under firm control but when they're tired and they're fed up of being in a supermarket and they come out and see the ride, can you not see how that's not helpful for the parent?

Why the fuck don't some parents feel able to say to their children, "yes it's nice, isn't it? We'll look at it for a minute... Okay we're going now!".

Or just, "No".

If you have kids, you sign up for tantrums. It's annoying but that's just how kids generally are.

It's not a ride, they're battery operated ride on toys that are displayed outside the shop.
