Just that really.

So many are slated and she's not perfect, by any stretch, but I still love her! Spending Sunday with her and she's cooking for all of us. Can't be bad, eh!

So why don' I have a MiL that I can rant about over here?

I love mine! She's just wonderful and treats me like a daughter. DP reckons she prefers me to him :-D

Mine is 2 sandwiches short of a picnic. But in a nice way (most of the time) and I love her nonetheless.

I agree. Mine was a role model to me and she died way too young. I miss her everyday.

I love mine. She is so friendly and lovely and has been nothing but welcoming to me in the family. She always makes sure that she remembers my birthday and buys me (and the other plus ones) equal gifts for Christmas. She is supportive and lovely and I'm very lucky.

I think it's great when people get on with Their in laws.

Mine are pain but live far enough away that's it's ok!

Yanbu to love your MIL. Ywbu to imply that, by extension, everyone else must love their MIL too.

Loved mine, miss her, wish she could have seen DD ,whom she adored, grow up to look so like her. But you can bet this thread will somehow turn into an anti-MIL rant. They always do.

I love my dMIL too, actually we recently moved the length of the country to live nearer in-laws so they can be more involved in the children's lives.

MIL and I don't have much in common but I love her because she is a brilliant, caring, kind and fun grandmother to my DD. She is just so great with her and I envy my DP for having had her as a mum!

I love mine. I used to think she was an overbearing control freak, but she really just wants to help as much as she can.

I don't see mine very often as she lives on a different continent, but she's great. When we stay with her she insists on doing all our washing, and she is the absolute queen of laundry. She worked as a housekeeper to a mega rich family for many years and she knows how to make clothes beautiful and soft and smell like a flower meadow. Sometimes I'll pull something I haven't worn since I stayed with mil out of a drawer months later and it'll still smell amazing.

I think mine is.....Ok.

There's nothing wrong with her. She's very nice to me. Except I have noticed it's very superficial and when we need emotional support (like with bereavement) it makes her uncomfortable and she just pretends it's not happening. That can be breathtakingly upsetting.

BUT I accept it and count my blessings. She is nice to talk to and doesn't interfere in our lives and that's basically what I require from a MIL, so.....I figure I can't complain.

Mine is lovely too! No issues with her- she loves her grandchildren, loves her children and is completely and utterly normal!

YANBU, mine is a complete loon, hippie chick child of the 60's. Nutty as a fruitcake but with a heart of gold. Love her to bits.

Good for you op. My mother in law hates ME regardless of effort put in to show she's appreciated. It works both ways

I adore mine, she treats me with more love and respect than my own mother does.

She had a bad accident late last year and I was one of the first she called, which was a nice surprise.

She's pretty much recovered now, and has invited us for lunch on Sunday. I can't wait

Adore mine. I'd be friends with her if we weren't related! She's just a good person all round so that extends to being a great MIL.

I won't actually see my mum on Sunday, despite her living close by as she's a bit stressy and us descending en masses will make her feel obligated to feed us / look after the kids etc so I am going to drop her gift in and give her a kiss tomorrow.

You can rant about mine op! She does enough shit for two.

Love mine too, she's bonkers never a cross word or fall out amazing as a mum, mum in law and nan...love her to bits...she's now in her 90's and still going strong, will be a very very sad day when she is no longer in our lives.
