To think the 'Disrespect NoBody' ad campaign is horribly sexist?

Not sure if this has already been discussed but has anybody else seen the 'Disrespect NoBody' TV adverts that are supposedly raising awareness for healthy relationships and domestic violence?

Every single scenario in the advert is targeted at men abusing women whether it be physically or emotionally. Y'know because men are never victims?

15% of the 90% of people who knew that it killed 99.9% of Bactria also knew that 4% of that 90% didn't know the 0.1% of Bactria it didn't kill.

Are you in the percentage that knew that, i wasn't 100% sure i knew what the 0.1% was either?

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/03/2016 16:29

What is the stat; 22% of major speaking parts in films are female? Women are outnumbered in pretty much every crowd scene, including princess movies! Girls speak less than men even in FROZEN! Rey gets cut from merch and we shouldn't mind. Girls should read books written by men but JK Rowling uses a gender neutral name to start her franchise. If I try to buy my DD a t-shirt with the female characters from Toy Story I can't, but there are lots with just the male characters.

But heaven forfend that an ad talking about something that mainly affects women should speak as if that's the case.

Thank you slug

I am a little bit concerned as i used profanity Blush

OhShutUpThomas · 04/03/2016 17:20

the level of abuse on this thread towards y chromosome victims to be extraordinary.

Right I'll fucking well do it.

Here are some examples of the abuse which has been directed at women on this thread. After reading them, I invite you to demonstrate where women have directed such abuse at men.

Modern women are uncaring pieces of shit who don't give a fuck about men.

Well done on being a bunch of cunts. Modern women are uncaring pieces of shit who don't give a fuck about men. Fuck the lot of you.

Thanks for proving that modern women are spoils entitled feminist infested fucktards. Women are constantly acting the victim yet when a man says something it's the worst thing in the world. Throw yourselves under a bus you utter cunts.

you hateful harridan cunts.
Fuck you.

Crazy middle aged women and ridiculous feminists

feminazi

termites

People like you piss me off and so yes I am going to tell you to fuck yourself. You are a blatant extremist regardless of whether your intentions to the cause are positive. I will call you a bigot because that's what most modern feminists are.

You people are severely fucking stupid aren't you

Not one of you has a leg to stand on outside of this jerk circle of women.

And this is without a) the deleted stuff that wasn't quoted, and b) all the low level misogynist shite such as 'Women CHOOSE to go into lower paid jobs.'

So go on - your turn.
Please do show me all the awful abuse targeted at 'y chromosome victims.'

Oh and while you're here -

A lot of statistics would say that it is 100 women killed to 30 men.

'A lot' - is that a technical term? Would you mind linking? I'd be intrigued to read that.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 04/03/2016 17:26

A lot of statistics would say that it is 100 women killed to 30 men.

A lot of Vikings killed a lot of men too.

OhShutUpThomas You have more patience with the Reddit Red Pill crew than I do. Grin

Helmetbymidnight · 04/03/2016 17:33

Well-collated, OhShutup,

the level of abuse on this thread towards y chromosome victims to be extraordinary.

What is extraordinary is that, despite all the evidence to the contrary, you are claiming that.

PosieReturningParker · 04/03/2016 17:47

MRAs are more annoying than nits.

RitaVinTease · 04/03/2016 18:00

Hikksta99
men are ridiculed for talking about having been abused
I dont know any women that do this. I do know Rape Crisis workers who assisted the local Mens Rape Crisis support line to get started.

The notion of the "evil man" is certainly sexist.
...And women laugh about this. They laugh about these actions.
The notion of the "evil woman" is certainly sexist

Ah unhealthy relationship almost always has unhealthy behaviour in both partners which grows in an unhealthy pattern.
Does it? Or is that victim blaming?

I really do find the level of abuse towards men on this thread quite extraordinary.
When 2 men a week are being murdered by their female partners you will have achieved equality.

Reading that stuff you've collated Thomas just makes me angry with these people.

I like men. I don't like these ones.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 04/03/2016 18:32

Here's a nice verifiable fact for the MRAs, especially zigoow, who was bringing male military deaths into the discussion:

More British women killed though men’s violence last year than British troops killed in Afghanistan in the last 3 years

Source

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 04/03/2016 18:42

I don't think the fact is nice, of course, but easily verifiable.

limitedperiodonly · 04/03/2016 19:08

It's why I prefer posts like this:

Thanks for proving that modern women are spoils entitled feminist infested fucktards. Women are constantly acting the victim yet when a man says something it's the worst thing in the world. Throw yourselves under a bus you utter cunts.

to stand.

Just so that I can point women who insist that all men are victims of nasty feminists in their direction.

They're welcome to each other.

Me? I'm going as far as I can the opposite way.

DaphneWhitethigh · 04/03/2016 19:16

It's not right to say that "most men are killed by a male partner" though I know what you mean - I've seen it elsewhere in the thread though.

Most male murder victims are killed in non-domestic incidents.

Of the relatively few men who are killed by a partner or ex-partner then about 2/3 are killed by a woman and 1/3 by a male partner. But since only around 5% of men are in gay relationships that of course means that gay men are far more likely to be victims and perpetrators of partner murder than straight men are to be the victims of female partners.

SpeakNoWords · 04/03/2016 19:19

Daphne could you share where those stats are from?

DaphneWhitethigh · 04/03/2016 19:23

It's in the data in slug's post above (21/57) but it's also in some other stuff I googled a couple of days ago on this thread - I'll see if I can find it when I have a mo.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 04/03/2016 19:43

Daphne's right - those figures are Karen I-S's.

Men are statistically more likely to be killed by a man in a gay relationship, than by a woman in a straight relationship (but fewer in number due to their being a higher proportion of heterosexual relationships).

Women are statistically far less likely to be killed by a woman in a gay relationship than by a man in a straight relationship.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 04/03/2016 19:44

Murdered men are far more likely to have been killed by someone other than their partner/ex-partner.

Murdered women are far more likely to be killed by their partner/ex partner.

zigoow there have been plenty of actual facts and credible non-MRA stats posted on this thread.
I'm not going to repeat them because I'm not your fucking servant.

Oh and I've reported you for being a PBP.
