To think teachers are not perfect!

This is based on a large number of posts about teachers - many that assume the teacher could not possibly have done what the OP has said they did.

If they did, it is excused because teaching is stressful and blamed on the government.

AIBU to think that's a bit of a cop out? Personally I know there are fabulous teachers but I know they are not perfect!

dd1 has a fabulous teacher, she's brilliant and dd1 adores her, did not stop her loosing some vital paperwork which she insisted dd1 gave her for "safe Keeping" and its not the first time, so yes I agree teacher are human and not perfect.

I think they do a fab job but I cannot see how they can like, or hide that they don't like some children, some can, many can't.

I've never read a thread that has said teachers are perfect. I've certainly read threads where people have questioned whether what a child has come home and said can actually be true. Quite often the thread turns out to be 'the child was exaggerating/mixed up'. I've read other threads where teachers have been in the wrong.

Yet to read one where what you've said happened.

Lilac, the threads you describe very quickly turn into people informing the poster that what they say happened (or their child say happened) could not have happened - often I'm thinking 'yes, it could!'

Of course, sometimes it has just been confusion or exaggeration.

Yep, teachers are in fact people, so like the rest of us they aren't perfect. Well spotted.

We are not perfect no. I make mistakes, I forget things and occasionally lose things including my temper , I'm human. But this is a job where if you are anything but perfect parents complain, parents, the government expect perfection, which we all strive for but we are only human.

I have NEVER seen or heard anyone describe any teacher as perfect. Of course that's because they are human beings, rather than actual robots.

You can't expect them to be perfect, you can hope that they will be professional most of the time, you accept they will make the odd mistake. Just like with any other profession.

It was hard knowing how to phrase the title really - I nearly went with 'AIBU to think teachers do make errors of judgement/mistakes.'

I have come across unprofessional behaviour in my time teaching and sometimes there is an automatic jump to the assumption that the child is wrong and the teacher is right, which just isn't always the case.

Some are great, most are average, some are terrible.

Just like any profession really.

i think you'll find that 99.99% of people in 99.99% of jobs are not perfect.

Gosh, I'm certainly not outraged, Sunny ... if I "sound" angry then I can only apologise, but I can assure you I'm not.

And shuts aswell...

i make mistakes, every day! I forget things, can be snappy and grumpy and am always chasing my tail. But I am happy to apologise to parents and children if I make a mistake or inadvertently upset or distress a child.

Teachers aren't perfect, as other posters have said-we are human. Flawed and human. In the same way that parents are, therefore I always think a bit of perspective is needed.
