From the CDC. Particularly the "risks for any woman".

Bloody hell.

NickNacks · 07/02/2016 20:17

What's wrong with it specifically?

Sirzy · 07/02/2016 20:17

I am wondering which alcoholic drink in particular can cause STDs?

nonamenopackdrill · 07/02/2016 20:18

Do the risks for men also list STDs and unwanted pregnancies?

CheekyMaleekey · 07/02/2016 20:19

Terrible! Could result in pregnancy. I'm appalled. What's the cdc?

Ginkypig · 07/02/2016 20:19

I wonder if it vodka or wine which causes somone to batter/inflict violence on me after Iv consumed it

CheekyMaleekey · 07/02/2016 20:20

Nick have you read it??!

liberatedwine · 07/02/2016 20:20

Which brand of alcoholic beverage causes pregnancy? Shock

Shallishanti · 07/02/2016 20:20

they should, that;s what I told DS1

pinkyredrose · 07/02/2016 20:21

I never realised drink inflicted violence or std's on women. Wonder if it does on men? Very informative .

bumbleymummy · 07/02/2016 20:22

Is there one for men too so we can compare?

CheekyMaleekey · 07/02/2016 20:23

What's the CDC?

NickNacks · 07/02/2016 20:24

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just seeking clarity.

SparkleSoiree · 07/02/2016 20:24

I took it to mean the under the influence of alcohol you may become violent or aggressive.

CDC is Centers for Disease Control - a bit like an American NHS, in terms of advice and guidance.

CheekyMaleekey · 07/02/2016 20:25

Is that why it's called Crabbie's alcoholic ginger beer?

Tapirbackrider · 07/02/2016 20:25

CDC is the Centre for Disease Control.

It's a US infographic.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 07/02/2016 20:26

Hmm, wouldn't the risk be becoming violent, then, not "Violence"?

"Violence" suggests that you are at risk of becoming a victim of violence.

duckyneedsaclean · 07/02/2016 20:27

Sorry, the CDC is the center for disease control in the US.

Perhaps it's more of a shock in the UK because without alcohol the British birth rate would probably plunge Confused

But yes, talk about the nanny state. Makes it look as if pouring vodka up your chuff will knock you up. I can hardly read it, do they mention risk of a car crash or jail for drink driving? Ridiculous listing of all possible consequences of intoxication.

scaevola · 07/02/2016 20:30

CDC is the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (the major public health body in the USA, and generally a world leader).

It's parallel leaflet for men includes information that men are much more likelto be problem drinkers than women, and this leads to a heightened level of risk taking behaviour, leading to injury or death (presumably it's the increase in risk-taking behaviour that also leads to unplanned PG and STDs), an increase in aggressiveness leading them to be more likely to perpetrate assaults, including sexual assaults. Also risk of suicide.

Plus the disease process risks.

It's evidence based, and hard-hitting for both sexes.

liberatedwine · 07/02/2016 20:34

Is that why it's called Crabbie's alcoholic ginger beer?

Grin Grin Grin

HermioneWeasley · 07/02/2016 20:36

Surely the point isn't that alcohol gets your pregnant, but that you are less likely to practice safe sex when drunk (also the reference to STDs)

I was much more offended by the UK poster pointing out that 1/4 rape victims had been drinking.

CrazyLoopholeInTimeAndSpace · 07/02/2016 20:40

Scaevola, do you have a link? I tried googling Cdc men drinking risk but only the female one came up?
