To not understand the biscuit thing?

I feel like I'm missing something important. What is this Biscuit and why is it used? I've seen some posters say it's the first time they've "given" it to someone? I feel like I should be able to figure it out but I'm lost.

I think it would be better if it had a tail above it, then it could be a Disdainful Cat's Arsehole symbol.

TheMouseThatRoared · 24/01/2016 23:17
Biscuit (I'm a dick Grin)
CointreauVersial · 24/01/2016 23:17

It means No Comment.

I think it was introduced after Gordon Brown (?) refused to reveal his favourite biscuit in a MN chat (possibly).

It is called upon only in extreme circumstances (where there really is no comment to make).

Oysterbabe · 24/01/2016 23:18

It's a way of dismissing someone's post as being trivial or stupid.

MrsSippy · 24/01/2016 23:18

I take it to mean meh, there are no words, what utter shite!

TheMouseThatRoared · 24/01/2016 23:18

Strikethrough fail Blush

TheMouseThatRoared · 24/01/2016 23:19

You can also use Chocolate to say the same.

bigsnugglebunny · 24/01/2016 23:19

I always thought it meant "shits got real - break out the hobnobs"

or shut your face and eat a biscuit.

ExitPursuedByABear · 24/01/2016 23:20

It basically means I can't be arsed to write something as your thread is just Biscuit

I like biscuits. I'm happy if someone offers me a biscuit.
Sorry if I gave anyone a cup of tea and a biscuit. I thought I was being nice.
Blush

MightyMug · 24/01/2016 23:40

Champale that's really funny!!

doodlejump1980 · 24/01/2016 23:45

I thought the biscuit was to fill the mouth so no other comments could be made? Like stick a sock in it, but with a biscuit?

doodlejump1980 · 24/01/2016 23:45

Also what does X-post mean?

CrystalMcPistol · 24/01/2016 23:47

x-post is when you've cross posted with someone else by saying the same thing as they did.

Oooh. I thought it was a big red button. Like "nice one OP, I'm just going to sit back and watch the fireworks"

Brightnorthernlights · 24/01/2016 23:53

Bunique

That's so funny....it does look like a big red button!

LuluJakey1 · 24/01/2016 23:55

I thought it was a compliment. Blush Someone once gave me a biscuit and I was rather pleased.

I don't understand them at all

Sparklingbrook · 24/01/2016 23:56

I just means no comment as it says in the Smileys List. People get very annoyed by it for some reason.
That said, if it was to go it wouldn't make much difference.

Janeymoo50 · 24/01/2016 23:57

Normally used by the "in crowd" on Mumsnet, especially against anyone daring to suggest children over the age of 3 don't need nappies, co sleeping, or God forbid breastfeeding to sleep and nursed during the night.

AlpacaLypse · 24/01/2016 23:57

bunique that's almost exactly what it does mean!

And xpost is because this site, unlike FB, doesn't update until you do something like hit 'post' after spending several minutes coming up with your carefully worded insightful and thoughtful reply throwaway hopefully witty comment then get dragged off your device due to WW3 breaking out between your children and you actually have to do some physical parenting, so that by the time you actually join the conversation everything's moved on and you look an utter tit.

AlpacaLypse · 24/01/2016 23:59

Lots of xposts... and I rest my case!

Sparklingbrook · 24/01/2016 23:59

I don't think I have ever used it. Hide Thread is better.
