I know some posters think it is a bit naff to be sad about someone you don't know, but I did feel very sad when I heard the news. That voice...

I'm usually one of those people but I have to admit that this one makes me sad. I've watched him for years and thought he was brilliant and the highlight of some films for me.

GloGirl · 14/01/2016 17:19

One of my very favourites. I had no idea he was poorly.

Sad at the news Sad

comingintomyown · 14/01/2016 17:19

Figmentofmyimagination · 14/01/2016 17:20

I think other than Harry potter I loved him most in Dogma, brilliant acting and comic timing.
So sad.

londonrach · 14/01/2016 17:22

Just watching sense and sensibility and crying...he looks when he sees kate...

LilacSpunkMonkey · 14/01/2016 17:22

I'm sad that everyone's banging on about Harry Potter as if it's all he ever did!

What about Truly Madly Deeply? Die Hard? Sense & Sensibility? Robin Hood Prince of Thieves?

He was one of those actors who stole the show every time.

V v sad. :(

Snape...Colonel Brandon...

That voice.

Always....

Katedotness1963 · 14/01/2016 17:49

Does anyone else remember January Man? (I'm probably older than a lot of posters.) I think that was the first thing I saw him in and he completely stole the show in it. I was a fan from then.

Angelto5 · 14/01/2016 17:56

Loved him in dogma also.

He scared the life out of me in Sweeney Todd!

CremeEggThief · 14/01/2016 17:57
Sad
Wolfiefan · 14/01/2016 17:58

Lilac has it. He stole the show. Always. Incredible actor. Gone too soon.
Thought and prayers with his friends and family.

Desperately sad, I loved him. He has 2 films ready to come out this year.

kissmethere · 14/01/2016 18:06

I was so shocked when I read this today I nearly spat out my tea.
Rest In Peace.
He was fabulous.

Summeblaze · 14/01/2016 18:14

I could watch him in he music video he did for Texas forever. Very sexy. He definitely had something about him.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 14/01/2016 18:19

It's very sad news.
Op there's a couple of new movies he'll be in coming out this year to look forward to, he's the voice of the caterpillar in Alice through the looking glass and he'll also be in Eye in the sky. Both look to be good films.

IPokeBadgers · 14/01/2016 19:18

Have loved him since Truely Madly Deeply. And he is brilliant in Dogma. And Galaxy Quest is just hysterically silly. Whàt a loss :-(

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 14/01/2016 19:25

Truly, Madly, Deeply one of my favourite films of all time. He was so sexy as the sheriff in Robin Hood too, and by all accounts a lovely fella to boot. Feel very sad at this news, RIP Alan Sad

jeanswithatwist · 14/01/2016 19:36

i just bought Truly Madly Deeply on vhs on Amazon for £20, they are going for near on £100 on ebay!! so excited to watch it again. very beautiful film which i will always associate with him.

CaveMum · 14/01/2016 19:39

Summeblaze I remember reading an interview with Sharlene Spiteri where she said what was the point in being a pop star if you couldn't pick who you wanted for your music videos! It's a very good video.

Always

My DC and I watched The Boy In The Bubble before bedtime tonight. What a versatile, wonderful and mesmerising man.
