I know some posters think it is a bit naff to be sad about someone you don't know, but I did feel very sad when I heard the news. That voice...

Daniel Radcliffe posted a lovely tribute plus a funny photo from the Harry Potter set.

He acted Kevin Costner him off the screen in that Robin Hood movie I thought. I remember reading somewhere that Costner felt a bit aggrieved about it too.

Alan Rickman was a fine actor and always humorous, charming, dangerous, intense and veeery sexy!!! I miss him already.

Me too - sad. Loved him in so many things. Truly, Madly Deeply, Sense and Sensibility, as Snape, - such a good actor and as others have said, so very sexy. RIP.

I want to stand with you on a mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I want to lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me

Savage Garden Truly Madly Deeply

Great song for a lovely man

I walked into office at lunchtime and it was on the TV. I said OMG to the security guy (in shock) and explained!! that I had a real thing about him. Had no idea he was 69. Had assumed he was more like 57.

I saw him on the stage twice. Amazing.

That voice. RIP. 😢

Thanks CaveMum, I adored that video at the time and had forgotten completely about it. Bittersweet to watch it again.

Went with DD to see 'Sense and Sensibility' when it was first released. Audience was about 90% female; cinema packed. When he walked through the door and just stopped and looked at Marianne, a very audible 'Phwoar' went up -- just for a look...! Shock
What an actor - what a wonderful human being.... Sad

I agree normally I don't care really for people I don't know, MJ, Bowie, Lemmy, for example, but being interested a lot in Harry Potter I did have a little think, not as crazy and emotional as some people over random celebrity deaths but I did stop in my tracks for a while

Katedotness1963 January Man was the first thriller I watched as a kid and I loved Alan Rickman - as others have said he totally stole the show (especially at the end with the woman they were trying to save).

My DC and I watched The Boy In The Bubble before bedtime tonight. What a versatile, wonderful and mesmerising man.

Summeblaze I remember reading an interview with Sharlene Spiteri where she said what was the point in being a pop star if you couldn't pick who you wanted for your music videos! It's a very good video.

Truly, Madly, Deeply one of my favourite films of all time. He was so sexy as the sheriff in Robin Hood too, and by all accounts a lovely fella to boot. Feel very sad at this news, RIP Alan Sad

Have loved him since Truely Madly Deeply. And he is brilliant in Dogma. And Galaxy Quest is just hysterically silly. Whàt a loss :-(

It's very sad news.
Op there's a couple of new movies he'll be in coming out this year to look forward to, he's the voice of the caterpillar in Alice through the looking glass and he'll also be in Eye in the sky. Both look to be good films.
