To think James Corden's Carpool Karaoke is dangerous

I love James Cordon and I think the Carpool Karaoke's are brilliant but, having just watched the one with Adele where he's driving around central London- I just kept thinking isn't it a bit dangerous to be concentrating on anything other than driving?

Aren't they on one of those special tricks that make it look like they're driving, bit they're not?

MiddleClassProblem · 14/01/2016 09:54

No they're driving

Bearbehind · 14/01/2016 09:54

I don't think so coz he does look around a lot, as if he is driving and the car doesn't seem overly high.

He's definitely not driving. It wouldn't be allowed.

frikadela01 · 14/01/2016 09:56

So I take it you don't talk or listen to music or anything when you drive.

Bearbehind · 14/01/2016 09:58

I accept we all do the odd thing like change channel on the radio when driving but to basically do a full interview with singing and dancing whilst driving round crowded streets of central London is very different.

I thought he was on a frame too but he isn't! But it is always the same car/van infrontbof and behind him!

Suziesome1 · 14/01/2016 10:00

They're towed/on a rig type thing. A few clips are taken of it normally from behind and then cut in.

TurnOffTheTv · 14/01/2016 10:01

Good god you would hate to be a passenger in my car! Singing, dancing, talking and shouting with three children every day.

CMOTDibbler · 14/01/2016 10:01

I'm sure the car is on a low loader thing like they do for all tv/movie car filming. Its hard to tell the difference from height or behaviour if they are a good actor. When James Corden was being Smithy in Gavin and Stacey he did a great job of driving acting

ohdearlord · 14/01/2016 10:03

With the amount of eye-closing, head-back-full-throated singing, general fannying around, hand-wavy-ness and full-on-giggles I cannot imagine the lawyers of the "late, late show" are letting him actually drive. It's a US show. Can you imagine the law suit?!

MiddleClassProblem · 14/01/2016 10:03

The first beiber one and 1D one they talk to people out the window. Other ones he parks up places. It may have been different in the London one though

Bearbehind · 14/01/2016 10:04

I did wonder that ohdear

I'll chill out if it's on a trailer Grin

OP posts:
Ringadingdingdong · 14/01/2016 10:05

I very much doubt he is driving. There's no way anyone could drive around central London like that. The clips of the vehicle are added in.

ohdearlord · 14/01/2016 10:08

I think assume trailer and enjoy Grin

The Stevie Wonder one is bloody brilliant.

MiddleClassProblem · 14/01/2016 10:12

I think in LA they can't use a trailer because they are using the carpool lane. Also it's pretty much straight lines and lights there. The JB one you see the people they talk to from their viewpoint and car behind and there's no trailer

shoeaddict83 · 14/01/2016 10:23

he is driving. There was a few articles about the LA based one where the police had to get involved with the production company as he was using his phone in the car and it was obviously then being screened, and its illegal in California to use phones behind the wheel (like in the UK) although in some states it isnt, so they were warned to stop.

Sparklingbrook · 14/01/2016 10:31

Oh dear.

Bearbehind · 14/01/2016 10:39

What's that supposed to mean sparkling Hmm?

It's about 50 / 50 on here between those who think he's driving and those who don't.

Thinking about it more logically now, I suspect he is on a trailer but the production team aren't going to admit he isn't driving as it spoils the whole concept so are probably happy for a few police stories to leak out.

OP posts:
MiddleClassProblem · 14/01/2016 10:44

I think the oh dear was at him actually driving

shoeaddict83 · 14/01/2016 10:44

but how do you explain the shots that are from the back of the car clearly showing him driving and the road in front with traffic ie no other car with trailer?? There were alot of those shots in the 1Direction carpool??

ingeniousidiot · 14/01/2016 10:45

And I think it's probably about 50/50 driving and/or being towed (fixed bar) so in that case everyone is right. Well done us!

Skullyton · 14/01/2016 10:47

i expect its a mix of staged and proper driving shots.

mrsmortis · 14/01/2016 10:48

i think chucks of the driving is done in car parks too. If you look at what he is moving past...

Wagglebees · 14/01/2016 10:56

I'm pretty sure it's a low loader plus some actual driving to make the exterior shots or any parking up scenes.

It's genius either way. Why wasn't he this good when he was here? Or maybe he was and I couldn't see it?
