To want to get back to the working week routine?

TheMightyMing · 30/12/2015 00:44

Been off since Xmas Eve and go back Monday 4th.

Xmas day itself was lovely round at friends, but I am really struggling with the time off. My cooking/shopping / washing/gym routine is all out of kilter. Husband and teenage son seems to be in the food cupboards constantly complaining there is no x or y.

House is a tip because we are around all day, even the dogs look a bit fed up ( I think they secretly enjoy having the house to themselves and a bit of talk Sport radio on during the week).

Normal routine is fairly hectic ( early starts, gym from work and then cleaning up and sorting out till 9pm most nights) but I'm craving it!

Is it just me?

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but why can't H or teen go shopping?

Have to say, I'm loving vegging out at home Grin

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 30/12/2015 00:52

I am looking forward to getting back to work, eating healthily, exercising, putting on make up and smart clothes every morning instead of sobbing in jamas until lunch.

My "normal" life is also hectic but I do like the routine of it. Doubtless I'll change my mind when I'm ironing uniforms and making packed lunches at 10pm on a Wednesday night.

I miss the sense of purpose and achievement I get from being at work. Although the holiday has been particularly lovely and I have spent loads of time with my teenage daughter which is always a pleasure.

rollonthesummer · 30/12/2015 00:53

God, no! Am loving being off!!

thelaundryfairy · 30/12/2015 00:53

I can´t wait to get back to work!

Mmmmcake123 · 30/12/2015 01:03

Are the dogs really looking a bit fed up? My lil poochies are loving all the unexpected extra walks and then curling up for naps.
Send dh out for take out and run around the park to compensate for lack of gym, extra calories and doggie boredom!

KanyesVest · 30/12/2015 01:05

I want to stay off but send everyone else back. Can I do that?

xOdessax · 30/12/2015 01:08

I'm so glad it's not just me looking forward to going back to work! I was feeling guilty for having those thoughts today 😳

Topseyt · 30/12/2015 01:11

Well, I do like getting back to routine once Christmas is done and dusted, and I don't do New Year really.

Yes, in many ways I am looking forward to getting back to normal.

G1veMeStrength · 30/12/2015 01:15

I'm fed up with it but due to DH shifts sending everything haywire. Not missing work routine at all!

CherryPits · 30/12/2015 01:19

YANBU I am also going spare needing to get back to normality.

SladeGreen · 30/12/2015 01:24

I'm feeling bored as well. I'm staying with family until January 2nd and I can't wait to go home. Its been a good Christmas but my younger nieces and nephews have constantly bickered and screamed at each other which has put a bit of a dampener on things Sad

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 30/12/2015 01:29

Do you leave the radio on for your dogs Confused

I am in lazy mode and bored of it I need routine. ds loving it the cat also seems very happy and making sure he gets as much attention as ds

Sallystyle · 30/12/2015 01:30

I did a twilight shift this evening to ease myself back into working.

It was quite nice to get out of the house but much nicer to come home, so I'm not really looking forward to getting into the swing of things.

Sallystyle · 30/12/2015 01:31

I always leave the radio on for the dogs!

headexplodesbodyfreezes · 30/12/2015 01:36

I like normal too. I've been back at work today and didn't mind at all. This isn't a good time of year to have a lot of time off, much better to save annual leave for spring and summer I think.

God no, as every day I get closer to going back to work I feel sicker and sicker.

I have recently returned from maternity leave which I loved and think my calling is to be a SAHP tbh.

goingmadinthecountry · 30/12/2015 02:06

Went into work today to get some stuff done and it was absolutely lovely- I teach and got loads of stuff organised. I miss the time to myself on my drive to work (30 mins or so) - I listen to Radio 4 and have quiet time. Normally dh, dd2 and ds away at work/uni/college. I'm really not good at having people there all the time and I'm used to having the house to myself on my day off. I love my family to bits but as a somewhat reclusive only child, I find Christmas with my 4 children difficult without any time on my own. Lots of parties too - great, but again a bit much for me. I love socialising, just need time on my own to recharge my batteries and some order in my day to day routine.

captainproton · 30/12/2015 02:11

Omg I can't wait until life returns to normal. My 3 yo and 2 yo have been asking if we are doing the normal activities I take them to everyday for the last week and a bit. On Xmas morning 3yo said she didn't want Xmas anymore she wanted to go to gymnastics. They have no concept of things being closed for Xmas.

If I wasn't 35 weeks pregnant we'd be enjoying the milder weather more, but instead we have to make do with my attempts at entertainment.

Also we've had fights every 15 minutes over who's toy is who's as they both want what the other has... Joy!

I swear DH makes it worse they get excited cos he's off. He went back to work yesterday and my eldest told me at lunchtime I hadn't shouted at all. Made me feel bad but when their eat/sleep routine gets mucked up they turn into little demons. My pg hormones have not helped at all.

Bettercallsaul1 · 30/12/2015 02:36

Ah, the grass is always greener, eh!

BooOzMoo · 30/12/2015 03:09

I'm in the middle!!!! I love having DH home but you sre right the house is a tip, I've not done any washing and if DH is home he can clean ... Yes missing the gym very much!!!!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 30/12/2015 04:55

Some of us haven't stopped working yet!

I'm looking forward to getting back to my normal rota instead of loads of nights squished together Christmas rota.

All I've done for days is sleep, say hi to the dses, sleep some more and go to work.

TheMightyMing · 30/12/2015 09:02

Not just me then! I am up and off to the gym. Got to then trawl the shops for the NY eve party , and then will need to go back for 'normal food' at weekend!

I've been at work every day bar Christmas Day. Retail is a bitch.

Shodan · 30/12/2015 09:41

I was very glad to pack DH off to work this morning.

He's had a very loud cold over the last 10 days or so, which has (apparently) required much noisy hacking, constant updates on the rate of his snot flow and fourteen million tissues filling up the waste paper bin in the sitting room.

Add that to the mess, the 'What are we doing for lunch/dinner/ can I have some of that?', being shot by endless Nerf gun darts and even the cats getting in on the fun by either accompanying me everywhere (loo, bath) or trying to murder me by dashing in front of me as I walk up/down the stairs and I think it's safe to say I'd be very happy if they all buggered off back to normal life Grin
