To call my child Bumpe

MIL insists on referring to my unborn child as 'Bump', she doesn't like when I call it 'It'. Would I be unreasonable to call my child Bumpe-maii after birth (pronounced Boompay of course). I think it sounds classy and French and I imagine MIL will be really annoyed overjoyed that I took her suggestion ignored her suggestions

I call my baby "it". I don't know what I'm having, so it's either that or "the baby". I quite like Boompay, but I think you should spell it "Bümpè" just to be really different

I think you need the full form on the BC, in case she becomes a high court judge. I'd spell it Ta-ra-ra Bumpe-de-ay.

Maid I couldn't be arsed to do the sexy French accent but it could be there. Boompay-Maii sounds sophisticated I think.

Ta-ra-ra Bumpe-de-ay would go beautifully with my Irish surname, I have always wanted a tiny tinker child with a donkey.

Good idea Biscuit, I don't see nothing wrong with a little Bumpe and Grynde.

I call my in-utero baby 'it' and bump/ bumpety, tiny human, teeny tiny, wriggle bum . OH calls it bumpsticle among others. I don't really think it matters what anyone calls it. It'll probably have an array of similar type names once it's in the world - I'm forever calling OH pumpkin, muffin, pudding, mushroom, chopsticks etc.

My colleague refers to her bump/baby as "Bambi" and I can't bear it

"I love stroking my little Bambi"
"I can feel Bambi kicking"

Etc, etc.

I know she's all excited so I just smile with her and play along but inside my head my brain wants to explode

Someone did ask me a few weeks ago what we called the baby as a nn and looked a bit shocked when said "it". We're just not cutesy people.

I maintained my right to call my unborn, sex unknown, babies 'it', in the face of much criticism. Had no desire to call them bump or other twee little names, 'it' was fine, they were no less loved and wanted and now have nice names . As for boompay, it makes me think of people swinging their hips and bumping into eachother for some reason!
