There's sank rotten in the state of Denmark.

FreeWorker1 · 10/12/2015 08:45

I just cant be bothered to learn the codes for all those emojis. Back when I was young and MN didn't have adverts we celebrated Christmas versions of our beloved Smile, [hmm[, Angry a bit like a sort of pagan festival.

Now emojis breed like rabbits. Its not the same anymore. Its like when TV had 3 channels and now we have 3000 - its worse and I cant work the remote.

Anniegetyourgun · 10/12/2015 08:46

Maybe, but I'm not giving my computer up for anybody.

Trills · 10/12/2015 08:47

Why is there a pineapple?

FreeWorker1 · 10/12/2015 08:47

Gaargh!!!

Hmm
RainbowDashed · 10/12/2015 08:51

Surely, though, DH, DD etc are meant ironically? Agree with the rest, though. Hun.

Look we established hun was offensive to Germans and northern Irish protestants a few weeks ago.... Let's not start that again! [Grin] (lighthearted, OK hun?)

Trills · 10/12/2015 09:01

I don't read DH as "dear husband" just as "my husband". Similar with DD.

DD2 means "my second-oldest daughter".
DD19 PROBABLY means "My daughter who is 19" rather than "my nineteenth daughter".

The D just makes it clear you're using a code rather than writing a letter.

Maryz I like emoji in texts etc but they are a bit silly here. MN can't control how they will show up - they will show differently to people on different computer or different phones. So people posting them don't know what they will look like for the people seeing them, so they won't necessarily make the same impression.

HardleyWorthit · 10/12/2015 09:02

Grin at hitting the ticker button 'by accident'.

DangerMouth · 10/12/2015 09:03

I'm afraid l hate the fecking emoji too. But l REALLY hate that my phone doesn't do this face Hmm as the amount of times it literally sums up how I'm feeling was quite a revelation to me.

momb · 10/12/2015 09:07

ODFOH, LOL x

TonySopranosVest · 10/12/2015 09:08

Trills - There's ALWAYS a pineapple.

Anyway, I can't get worked up about it TBH. Soooooo many things have changed round ere that it's pretty much unrecognisable from the Old place - and such is life.

ALemonyPea · 10/12/2015 09:09

It's really bugging me what that GIF is from. Is it pirates of the Caribbean?

Emojis belong in texts and hotmail conversations.

HumphreyCobblers · 10/12/2015 09:10

I spend some time trying to wipe off a bit of dirt on the screen the other day, only to realise it was some strange kind of emoji.

Pantone363 · 10/12/2015 09:11

this is the only emoji we need

BIWI · 10/12/2015 09:12
Grin

I was so hoping that was what you'd posted Pantone!

Trills · 10/12/2015 09:13

Noooooo

This obviously

Blacktealeaves · 10/12/2015 09:13

Scary, panatone!

Mmmmm panatone (homer) (Simpson, not the original as I am dumbed down)

pigsDOfly · 10/12/2015 09:23

Now that is scary Trills.

Can't stand the bloody 'lighthearted' thing. It does seem it's necessary at times though as you see it all the time: someone will start a thread that's obviously tongue in cheek and there will always be someone who wants to start a bun fight because they haven't the wit to see that the posters being ironic.

Wouldn't have happened in the old days.
