To buy a stroller for 2 year old?

Dd was 2 in Oct. We have a big all terrain mountain buggy which we use occasionally but I'm finding it a
pain to push due to the fixed wheel. So I carry her in an ergo type carrier alot! Which I don't mind but sometimes it's just too wet or I have lots of bags from shopping that it's not practical.
How long do you reckon she'll ne in a pushchair for? Should I just struggle on with the mb?

Depends on how far you walk.

You'll get posters saying that she should be out of a buggy, but they're usually car drivers, or don't move much.

I'm a big walker and found it useful to have a buggy upto the age of three.

I used to do full days out on public transport and couldn't of carried my 2-3 year old whilst they slept, or if they were ill.

If she still needs it then yes buy one, you can always get a second hand one

We do a lot of walking as an interest/with dog, so carrier is used dur to terrain.
I mainly use pushchair for round the block dog walks, school run, around town (i drive there) and when visiting family. Mainly thinking of a stroller as it doesn't take up whole boot!

My DD used one occasionally until she was 3, I'd get one secondhand from Facebook or Gumtree and you can always sell it on again.

Yes the anti buggy crowd probably never walk back from the bus stop in the rain with a tired toddler and three bags of shopping.you could get a year two use out of a lightweight stroller

I would say if you going to get a buggy just get a little light one, nothing too ott or expensive. My lo was two in October and essentially out of his pram now (unless we really need groceries or w/e and the weather is horrible, then he gets put in, much to his disapproval, with the rain cover). But I had a huge big travel system, the kind with the car seat that unclips and I gave up on that because it was too heavy about 8 months ago so he has a little fold up buggy that's loads easier, though tbh if I didn't have a buggy now just the big pram, I personally probably wouldn't buy one because my lo is so close to ditching his completely, but every kid is different and you think yours is going to be using hers for a bit longer then go for it it makes life a million times easier

mud it was that reason yesterday in stormy cumbria why I thought of it! The big pram is just a pita to have in the boot! I knew that by having a stroller live in the boot would have made things so mich easiet!

i had mine in one until they were 4 because of the amount of walking we did.

i certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy another when your dc is only 2!

I would get one. I had no idea there was an anti buggy brigade. Is this another MN crime I committed in 2002 without realising?

here here! My lo is basically out of his for every day stuff but a full day out in town or food shopping on public transport in the rain it's pretty essential :) (he hates it but I only have so many arms!)

My youngest is four in the new year and still has the odd day where the pushchair is the better option for him. If you feel you could use one, get one. I'd second the idea of getting a new to you one from gumtree or Facebook, you're likely to get something a bit better for the money you're spending.

Yanbu, sounds like a win-win for both you and dd. Agree with the others about the brigade trying to tell you it's wrong, but it's actually so common that if it makes life easier why not.

I've never seen the anti buggy brigade. I think it's a MN myth. Anyway I was in the Mamas and Papas outlet the other day and they had some lovely strollers reduced down to about £35 so it's not a big expense to get one. There are second hand pram selling groups on Facebook as well.

Not a bad idea! Though we stashed ours in the attic in case we ever decide to have another baby, lo is an only and we are quite young so deffo a possibility

I was having visions that DC should go straight from sling to walking everywhere or something.

I trudged around with a buggy for miles. Then we got the buggyboard and it was more like a workout. Grin

Mine were in the 3 wheeler until 4.5yrs. Far nicer to push than a stroller.
Can you get a better a second hand 3 wheeler without the fixed wheel?

As someone who bought a lightweight stroller for their then 3 year old I say absolutely.

It did DC1 a year or so and has recently been binned after DC2 out grew it. It was binned because we used it to death. Best £50 I spent that year.

I loved my three wheeler but it took up too much room in the car boot and had constant punctures.

Oh God yeah- get one. Why make life more of a ballache than it needs to be.

Just be careful about which one you choose if you're intending to use it as a glorified shopping trolley. Some of the ultra small fold/lightweight ones are simply too flimsy for more than a couple of bags of shopping. They can and do tip if you try and load them up like you would a heavier chassis pram.

Can you still get the weights you can put on the front?

The main problem with my Mcclaren one was that if DS2 was fully reclined you couldn't access the net shopping bit at the bottom at all.

meglet it's more to do with the size of it too. I can't leave it in the boot as then nothing else fits in. The dog ends up on the back seats when we take him out and use the pram for dd.
I think it makes sense to buy one, and 2nd hand, I was just wondering how long other children were in buggies for and whether it was worth it!

I'n looking at the quinny zapp or baby jogger mini. Both about 50-69 2nd hand.

We have a children's charity shop near us it's the done thing to buy a buggy then bring back when finished. Two year old did scoot locally plus have a board on a adult scooter for tired days and we can use a friends if needed but in London so lots of busses
