To buy a stroller for 2 year old?

Dd was 2 in Oct. We have a big all terrain mountain buggy which we use occasionally but I'm finding it a
pain to push due to the fixed wheel. So I carry her in an ergo type carrier alot! Which I don't mind but sometimes it's just too wet or I have lots of bags from shopping that it's not practical.
How long do you reckon she'll ne in a pushchair for? Should I just struggle on with the mb?

I have a 2 yr old, we sold the big pram ages ago and just have a stroller in the boot of the car. She walks most of the time but for longer days out, the stroller is a must have!!

My Dsis got a £20 basic scissor folding g pushchair from argos to take on holiday for dn when she was 3. It has now been used for my 2 as well a d I also use it with a buggy board. It's really good and light to carry and is ideal for older toddlers as it doesn't recline.

Bambambini · 06/12/2015 13:24

I still used a buggy for certain things when mine were 4ish. Folk get all superior about this and get competitive about how ealty they ditched their buggy. I couldn't give a shiny shite - I like an easy life and the buggy made life easier at times.

wonkylegs · 06/12/2015 13:30

I'd get a lightweight folding stroller but wouldn't spend too much on it. I had a buggy refuser by 2 so it would have mainly been a waste of money for us. We walked a lot but I always had the car or metro (station only 1street away) for shopping so thankfully I only had to worry about transporting a child not stuff. He had to walk as I couldn't carry him (I have RA) and he was fab on his feet but most people we knew still had buggys at this point many of my friends swapped from their bugaboos to mclairan strollers around then.

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 06/12/2015 13:30

Babyjogger city mini for sure. The Zapp is shite in comparison. I've had both!

specialsubject · 06/12/2015 13:31

2 is still not very expert at walking, get a second-hand buggy. Planet is awash with them.

GreenPetal94 · 06/12/2015 13:33

We had a Maclaren style cheap folding buggy. Great for on and off buses and in and out of the car. And easy to push. And if you start to use it less it won't matter as it's cheap and easy to store.

Also invaluable if your four year old breaks their leg!!

Girlfriend36 · 06/12/2015 13:35

My dd was in her Maclaren buggy till she was 4yo! There was no younger sibling to push her out of it and I loved it that she has somewhere to nap and i had somewhere to hang the shopping bags Wink

I still occasionly use a stroller when mine are ill or very tired (4 years old). Used this week when one of my twins was ill and took the other to school. It's a longish walk (for them) and I don't drive. Agree that people who het all smug about buggies generally tend to drive everywhere!

Aeroflotgirl · 06/12/2015 13:39

Yanbu at all. Yes there is an anti buggy people on here, those whose 18 month old DC walk for 2 miles easy. Or those who have a car, who don't have to walk 3 miles with toddler, shopping in the pouring rain, or a toddler who does not want to walk properly with you. You do what suits you. I have just ditched the buggy, as ds is 3.5 years, and tge wheel fell off it so was not going to buy a new one. He has his sister's Micro Scooter which he whizzes about on now.

RubbleBubble00 · 06/12/2015 13:44

My dc all napped until 4 so buggy was handy if your out and about. Much prefer a buggy for 2 year old if out and about, def need one for school run as it's a 20 min walk at my pace - more like an hour at 2 year old pace

winewolfhowls · 06/12/2015 13:48

Love my baby jogger couldn't recommended it enough

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 06/12/2015 13:52

YANBU

I hold on to mine until my DC's are around 4yo. I love the umbrella fold type, great for long walks, busy shopping centres, days out, holidays, if your DC is sick but you still have to go out, for tired DC's, napping etc, the list goes on!

Do what you need to do Smile

Aeroflotgirl · 06/12/2015 14:03

It is those who drive that are against using buggies, or have ever so perfect toddlers, who walk with them nicely all the time.

Jw35 · 06/12/2015 14:05

Yes I would buy one! Can't imagine not having a buggy for a 2 year old! They definitely still need one until at least 3!

gamerchick · 06/12/2015 14:08

Mine was 6 before we ditched it.theyre handy things Wink

CombineBananaFister · 06/12/2015 14:08

We had one until DS was 4yrs which he hopped in and out of on long treks - rural area, crap buses and non-drivers. It does cause a few raised eyebrows among some but they all drive everywhere so they can bugger off on the moral high horse they rode in on.
I would go for a baby jogger as it has a really good sell on value, they're light and easy to push - I miss mine hahaha!!

honkinghaddock · 06/12/2015 14:09

Baby Jogger mini is a fab pushchair.Ds with sn fitted in it till he was 5.

M0ggy · 06/12/2015 14:22

I got this one and its great for my 2 year old, includes rain cover, hood, storage underneath & footmuff, it pushes really well, is light to lift & folds up easily.

I bought a baby jogger city mini gt for dd when she had just turned 3. We walk a lot, she gets tired and I would hate not to have a pushchair for her, it would take ages to get any where.

Agree with others that the baby jogger is a brill pushchair with lots of room.

ShamefulPlaceMarker · 06/12/2015 17:03

That's what I was thinking combine If I pay more for a decent one then I can sell it on!

Thanks all. I'm currently watching a few on ebay :)

We've got a Baby Jogger City Mini GT. We got it for DD2 who is still a baby, but DD1 fits in it and she is the size of a 6 yo. So you should get plenty of use out of it. DD1 isn't very impressed that she isn't allowed a ride in our one.
