To think you bite WITH the ridges, not against!

The person beside me is eating ridged crisps and not biting along the ridges. What madness is this?!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/11/2015 10:49

You're both wrong Shock

Crisps should be inserted whole for the most satisfying crunch, those who nibble are just odd Wink

Yabvu! There is no fun if you are not feeling the ridges as you eat!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 20/11/2015 10:51

Yes, put them in whole, biting makes too many crumbs (which is a waste of crunchy deliciousness).

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 20/11/2015 10:59

I bite against them - there's no point having ridged crisps otherwise, they aren't for people with dodgy teeth, the flavour gets caught in the ridges so they taste better.

You need to ask for one now and try it. Our way wins.

m1nniedriver · 20/11/2015 11:07

I think you should grab the packet from her and show her how it should be done Angry depending on the flavour

lurkingabit · 20/11/2015 11:26

How can you get it so wrong. Bite ACROSS the ridges. ACROSS

MERLYPUSSEDOFF · 20/11/2015 11:28

Across.

(or shove them in whole)

NotEmptyNow · 20/11/2015 11:28

YANBU. One ridge at a time is obviously what these crisps were invented for!

Bumpinthenight · 20/11/2015 11:30

I think you will find you are supposed to kick along the ridges first to get maximum flavour and then eat them whole...

MaidOfStars · 20/11/2015 11:30

Definitely with the ridges for me. Nice clean break.

Bumpinthenight · 20/11/2015 11:30

That would be lick along the ridges!

SaucyJack · 20/11/2015 11:30

I lick the salt off first, after which they're so soggy it doesn't matter which way you put them in.

reni2 · 20/11/2015 11:30

Crisps are eaten whole if smaller than a palm.

Anniegetyourgun · 20/11/2015 11:36

Well, I don't know about your mouth, but my teeth are arranged in a graceful curve barring a few gaps and wonky bits so unless it's a very small crisp some of my teeth will neatly fit along a ridge and others won't.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 20/11/2015 11:37

Aren't ridged crisps usually perfectly palate shaped?
Crunch across them
SORRY OP
Grin

reni2 · 20/11/2015 11:42

They go in whole, then tongue press up and teeth down- crunch.

Different if used as a shovel with dips like Taco chips and I haven't found a way to fit in papadums (sp?) yet.

MrsHathaway · 20/11/2015 11:42

I have disagreed with you about many things, OP, but here you are absolutely definitely and eternally NBU.

It's one of the chiefest joys of a packet of McCoys and makes it last two or three times as long as a packet of Walkers (etc) for the same calories. Diet tip right there.

As for the rest of you, I bet you eat KitKats like this too. Bastards.

To think you bite WITH the ridges, not against!
TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 20/11/2015 11:54

See the Kit Kat is just WRONG

TobleroneBoo · 20/11/2015 11:59

Nooo I agree with the OP! I have a huge dirty love for Flame Grilled Steak McCoys - they can only be eaten by nibbling each ridge individually, which I am sure my colleagues LOVE Grin

bumbleymummy · 20/11/2015 12:00

Baelish, you can still feel the ridges if you bite more than one at a time. (Although I quite like biting then off one at a time.... Makes them last aaaaages)

The kit-Kat is wrong! Angry

OP posts:
bumbleymummy · 20/11/2015 12:03

Kit-Kats MUST be nibbled around the edges of each individual finger before being eaten lengthways.

I haven't had one in years though. Bloody Nestle making me miss out on kit-kats!

OP posts:
lurkingabit · 20/11/2015 12:12

OMG WHO who who in their right mind eats a KitKat like that??
So very wrong

mmgirish · 20/11/2015 12:17

That kit Kat photo made me shudder. WHO would do that? However, YABU OP, you bite against the ridge...

LaurieMarlow · 20/11/2015 12:18

That kit kat pic/biting against the ridges - I think it's racy. Wrong but fun. Living life on the edge.

Really fancy some mccoys now Blush
