Facebook; what do you think, no nasty comments

Has anyone seen much of this on Facebook;

People posting photos with stuff they have made or outfits they've put together with a "what do you think, no nasty/negative comments"

Now I'm not going to put a nasty comments, but if you're asking for feedback surely you must expect someone not to like that purple red and green monstrosity that you've thrown together in the dark. ...?

Is it the stealth boast of fb?

It means, "Compliment meee! Pay attention to meee!! Tell meee how great I am!!"

I wouldn't give a positive comment even if I liked it, due to that comment. Dictating what people can write.

Perhaps it means for constructive feedback to be given - 'might look good in pink/green or with slightly longer hemline .....' rather than someone saying 'I wouldn't be seen dead in that pile of shite'.

Yeah, but would you even risk saying that, I don't think they're looking for constructive comments.

I've seen a few of these but it normally refers to glittery shit or those godawful sweet tree things.

I'd guess with clothes/outfits it could be more of a "don't tell me I'm fat" type thing, but who knows.

I would think it's just today's version of ringing up your mate and asking what they are wearing to go out?

But if you are posting on social media and have to say "no nasty comments" then you probably have the wrong friends

I think it means 'could you be constructive in your comments rather than telling me it looks shit'. Seems fair enough. Think of it like AIBU versus Chat or Relationships.

I read it on here all the time, "First time poster, so go easy on me"

And of course MNetters go easy as she asked nicely.

All face book is is a place for people to brag. That's why I have nothing to do with it. I've never been a bragger, nor am I rightly or wrongly particularly interested interested in the achievements of others. I have my own achievements and accomplishments
Now on to your question. If they're not adult enough to be able to face facts that not everyone will think the outfits they have made or cakes they have baked are the best thing since sliced bread then, why ask opinions.
I think that proves me point about fb being nothing more than a braggers community.

Now if they said. Constructive criticism only please . Then that would be fine.

FB isn't a place for people to brag - bit of a sweeping statement! It's used in many different ways by different people and groups.

Wiki definition of constructive criticism - Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. (i.e. nasty/negative comments comes under the banner of oppositional, therefore she means constructive criticism only please. Fair dos.)

Perhaps the posters just assume everyone knows that they mean constructive comments rather than 'it looks shit' comments?

Perhaps the poster could not assume that at all, because when i read it "no negative comments" I read it as, only say nice things, dont say it look crap

If I couldn't find anything constructive to say I'd just keep quiet - unless I didn't like the person, in which case I wouldn't have them on FB.

Facebook in my opinion is over rated. Everyone uses the site differently. But most unfortunately do use it for ego boosts.
I deleted mine. Was sick of seeing what people had made for their tea or profile pictures of themselves with the 'trout pout'.
Symphathy posts on how ill they supposed to be..yet could find the energy to sit on fb for hours!
Harbours negativity....cyber bulling in all ages and gender.

As for the question in hand, why ask a question if your not prepared for a honest answer??
These types of Facebookers should find other ways in entertaining themselves.

Even in groups, if you can't say something constructive don't say anything at all.

FB is fantastic for keeping in touch with friends and relatives you don't see that often. If you're page is being over run by people posting photos of their tea then you have a number of options - lose the friend, hide their posts, unfriend them. No big deal,

I don't recognise the facebook people post about on MN. I only friend people I like, and people I like aren't dicks.

Groups can be tricky, but if someone posted asking for opinions but only good ones, I would ignore them.

I think insecuritie in these individuals is heightened with these silly posts. They are looking for positives . And cannot hand honest answers.

Doesn't make them bad people though.
