To think there is nothing nicer than new bedding?

Am ridiculously excited about going to bed tonight.

We got a new bed about 5 months ago. I was really looking forward to going shopping for new bedding before it arrived. But a couple of days before it came dp had a heart attack so I never got around to it.

We have made a real effort since to cut down on unnecessary spending so I never got around to it. We finally had a long outstanding invoice settled in friday (dp is a builder and we sometimes struggle to get stuff paid) which boosted our finances.

So today I went linen shopping. I bought a new quilt, cover and pillows, new mattress protector and new 800 count cotton sheets with a sateen finish.

I am having a gin, my tea and a nice bath. I will even shave my legs.

And then I am going to bed early to fully benefit from the whole experience!

Life in the fast lane here!

Yanbu, i love it too. Hope your dh is doing much better. Enjoy your new beddingSmile

NationalTrustLadyGardens · 27/10/2015 19:37

YANBU, but the bedlinen has to be pure cotton, sounds like it is. Enjoy yourself!

ShamelessBreadAddict · 27/10/2015 19:40

Yanbu! Especially new, freshly washed and ironed linen. Enjoy!

ShamelessBreadAddict · 27/10/2015 19:40

Oh yeah but stop making me envious shakes fist! Envy

laffymeal · 27/10/2015 19:43

That sounds like all kinds of blissful perfection.

Patapouf · 27/10/2015 19:45

Nothing quite like shaved legs in clean sheets!

I ordered lots of new pretty sets from Zara home when they had 20% off but it hasn't arrived yet we bought a super king duvet recently and only have one cover that fits which is a pain!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 27/10/2015 19:46

Ahhh that sounds nice. I've just put new bedding on too. Wintery stuff. I can't remember the last time I didn't have plain bedding...

I've got fibro and it exhausted me putting it on, but it looks nice.

Enjoy yours! And I hope DP is okay now.

cruikshank · 27/10/2015 19:48

New bedding is ace. It's a sensory pleasure, and we are sensory beings. Have a great night and hope your dp is well on the road to recovery.

Mintyy · 27/10/2015 19:48

Assume you washed it and didn't put it on straight from the packet?

bimandbam · 27/10/2015 19:51

Yes it is all proper posh Egyptian cotton. It is one of my few extravagancies. House of fraser had a 70% off sale so raided the Sheridan section then the linea stuff for sheets!

Dp is doing much better now thank you. Though he has gone up to bed early with man flu and has been warned to only stay on top and not actually get in.

Did I also mention I have salted caramel cheesecake in the fridge too?

I am all kinds of happy tonight. Just hope ds has a better night than last night and stays in bed past 4am.

Yes Mintyy I managed to get it washed and dried. Just a quick wash to take the chemical smell away and tumble dried it. I didn't iron it though but it has dried nicely like well behaved bedding should.

When I win the lottery I will have clean, ironed bedding every single day. Bliss. Grin

YABVVVVR.

thecapitalsunited · 27/10/2015 19:56

Yes. I got married recently and was gifted some lovely satin weave 600 thread count sheets. I had enough in JL vouchers to buy a new bed. Also treated myself to a new mattress protector and new pillows. I spend lots of time ironing it so I can enjoy how lovely it is.

TheWernethWife · 27/10/2015 20:06

I have to step away from the bedding section in department stores, I have lots of duvet sets and cannot justify buying anymore for the present, sob sob. John Lewis and Next are my go to choice for nice bedding.

NationalTrustLadyGardens · 27/10/2015 20:15

Sheridan! Even better. I love Sheridan.

NationalTrustLadyGardens · 27/10/2015 20:17

Have you got a TK Maxx Werneth, or a Boundary Mill Store - some unbelievable bargains there.

cruikshank · 27/10/2015 20:23

70% off in House of Fraser you say? [/takes notes]

I have some lovely lovely HoF bedding that I bought well over 15 years ago that is still going strong - I mean, it really is. Not faded, not bobbly, not thinned, still comes up lovely when washed and ironed.

I think a shopping trip may be in order.

Can I just say though that new bedding is of course the best, but new pyjamas is also pretty awesome?

TheWernethWife · 27/10/2015 20:33

National

Yes, got a TK Maxx in town and just a short motorway trip to Boundary Mill. Just don't have room for anymore - have them in baskets in the bottom of an IKEA double wardrobe in the spare room. Maybe I'll offer some to my daughter lol

bimandbam · 27/10/2015 20:50

Yes 70% of some stuff, 50% off some other and 20% of other stuff plus some sale racks with some good bargains of odd and sods. .

I bought some Sheridan bedding 9 years ago. It was my valentines present from dp. It is a padded chocolate brown cover and pillowcases plus a contrasting pair of cases. It was on my bed every day for about 3 years (washed weekly) then I finally bought another set and alternated the two along with an odd set from tk maxx.

The original set still looks brand new. No fading or bobbling though I don't use it so.much now as it doesn't match my curtains.

But it was well worth what I paid for it and I won't ever go back to cheap bedding. I buy a new decent set every couple of years and never been disappointed with Sheridan stuff.

New one was about £70 including pillow case so probably only double what you would pay for mid range stuff. I always wait for the sales though.

I really wanted a different set which would have been about £160 even half price but couldn't quite bring myself to do it.

Maybe if the tosser that owes us 28k pays up I will do it!

People iron bed linen?

thecapitalsunited · 27/10/2015 21:01

Ironing bedding is brilliant. I have a steam generator iron though so it takes me next to no time to do it - the steam can penetrate several layers so I can iron it while folded. I get some annoying creases that way but its good enough for me as the sheets still feel delicious.

OhMrBadger · 27/10/2015 21:01

Sounds glorious! Getting into a freshly made bed is one of the loveliest simple pleasures ever. I would add a mug of Ovaltine and a damn good book. Enjoy OP.

SlinkyB · 27/10/2015 21:09

Envy Envy Enjoy OP! Sounds amazing!

ihatethecold · 27/10/2015 21:12

My favourite ever feeling is getting into clean bedding. if I've shaved my legs first
