To have my post delivered at this time?

My morning post arrives around 10.30am. Has been like this since we moved here ten years ago.

From this week my post is now arriving at 1pm which it seems thus will now be my usual time.

AIBU to think that Royal Mail should really be delivering post some time in the morning and not when half the day has gone!

What time does everyone else's postie come?

Mine used to come at 1 but as of last month it now arrives at 9.

I preferred the former, I could be in for deliverys

In my previous house the postman used to come at 7.30am. That was just the right time.

Why does it matter? Ours usually comes around 2pm-3pm.

Why should they come in the morning?

Out postie is usually around 1.30pm, it's earlier if he is off. I assume that they do the routes a different way round too eachother.

As long as it gets here I don't care

Mine comes anytime between 10 and 2pm. Don't really see why post should come in the morning?!

I have no idea what time our post comes, I'm at work - how can it possibly matter to you? I think you should find something more interesting to think about!

I assume the round has changed and you're now later in the route.

I don't really see why it matters so long as it arrives. Ours gets here around 10-10.30am but I'm at work, so whenever it arrives I can't deal with it until later anyway.

I think they should be allowed to schedule their work as necessary to make it the most effective it can be.

Ours comes about 3pm on Mondays, presumably because they have more to sort after the weekend, then about 1pm Tues-Thurs, and then about 10am on Fridays (as I suspect they want to knock of early). I couldn't care less as long as it arrives at some point (although they are welcome to divert the bills to someone else!).

As is usual with "services" that now have to make money, there's just not enough posties to do the job. This is no longer a service but a money making machine. Posties rounds generally involve using trolleys, and not bikes, delivery offices have been moved,all adding to the amount of time a round takes. Don't blame the postman for the stupidity and idiocy of their managers

Our post's awful. If we get a delivery it's about 90% sometime in the afternoon, even as late as between 4-5pm. Often they miss a day and then we get it all before lunch the next morning.

Back in the day we'd have first and second post by 1pm at the latest.

Mines around 11.30-12.30 which suits me as I can be out all morning with the toddler, come home for lunch/nap and be in if anything needs signing for.

Mine gets here when it gets here, rarely on a Monday.
When I was young We had an eight o' clock post and a one o' clock post. Twas a bloody long time ago, though!

Does it really matter?

What kind of post/letters to you receive that is so time sensitive that you need it delivered in the morning? Do you work from home and need prompt delivery of stuff ?

Not being sarcastic just curious

You realise it's impossible to deliver everyone's post in the small time frame that is a working morning...? Some post will always be early and slme will be later.

Ours is at 1.00pm which I find a pain in the arse at times.

DH orders a lot of (cheap) CDs from abroad which have to be signed for and one of us is pretty much always around in the mornings, but not the afternoons.

It's not their fault though and my postman went part time recently because he could no longer handle the stress of the job and the staff shortages. His work hours were crazy and they were putting more and more onto him for very little appreciation. I haven't seen him in a while so maybe he took an early retirement in the end.

Mine is around 1pm. I get all confused these days when I go stay with my parents and there is both a first post early in the morning and then a second post late in the morning.

My exh has been a postie his whole working life and it's a bloody thankless job. Get it in the neck from the royal mail and from customers.
When he started the job everyone started really early sorted their mail into order for delivery and out on the round.
Now only the full timers ie this who have been there for years start early they have their own delivery to sort and that of the part timers ie newer staff.
They are no longer allowed to just go out when they are ready they aren't allowed to leave before the time the royal mail says they can start on the street. Sometimes ton a quiet day it means hanging around others they are barely ready in time.
They are then paid until a certain time and on a busy day rarely finished by that time because a computer decides how long it should take them to do each days delivery not taking into account days like council housing mail drops or polling cards when almost every house gets mail.
I can tell you seeing the changes to the job over the years can give you a whole new level of appreciation for the poor postie out in all weather delivering my mail.

Anywhere between 10 and 2pm is normal. They often do 2-3 rounds each day, so it depends on where they choose to do first.
