AIBU to really hate the sex reversal threads?

They're clearly all by men anyway, and by men who don't like women or trust women to have a discussion based on anything other than sex.

If you think women aren't capable of just reading the thread then why bother asking?

What's a sex reversal thread?

(Do I even want to know this early?)

fredfredgeorgejnrsnr · 06/10/2015 07:53

Something to do with center parcs I think AuntieStella

Shutthatdoor · 06/10/2015 07:55

YABU to not actually explain properly in your OP as to what you are actually talking about Wink

PurpleDaisies · 06/10/2015 07:56

This has passed me by. Which threads are you talking about? Links would be helpful...

CoteDAzur · 06/10/2015 07:57

What is "sex reversal"?

Did you just wake up from a nightmare?

abbieanders · 06/10/2015 08:00

It's not just one specific thread, there have been several where your man has carefully disguised the gender of all protagonists so that a bunch of harpies will be fooled into not just automatically taking the woman's side.

Of course, only men would be arsed doing that so it's as much a giveaway of the sex as just being less tediously stupid.

OP posts:
HellKitty · 06/10/2015 08:07

I'm sorry but to me sex is what one gets one's coal in.

Bullshitbingo · 06/10/2015 08:12

Yep, you can usually tell straight away, and it just puts me off posting.

Like you said, it's as if they think we're all such man-hating harpies that they can get us to agree with them by just taking on a female gender in the story. If they think we're all such bitches, why bother garnering our opinion?!!

PurpleDaisies · 06/10/2015 08:14

I haven't seen anyone doing this. Is it a big problem on here at the moment?

Fairenuff · 06/10/2015 08:15

Why do you need to know the sex of the person posting?

StillDrSethHazlittMD · 06/10/2015 08:15

I wish I had time to find links, but I do think I have seen threads where women have reversed the genders, not just men. I am prepared to accept the majority may be by men, but I don't agree with your statement that they are all by men.

DiscoGoGo · 06/10/2015 08:15

Yanbu

abbieanders · 06/10/2015 08:20

Why do you need to know the sex of the person posting?

You don't. It's the assumption that you do and the grinding awfulness of the posts where clearly too much care has been taken to disguise the sex of the writer that makes it a problem.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 06/10/2015 08:21

I am a bit lost. The only reason I ever know the post is by a man is the huge announcement 'I'M A MAN' usually. Or 'Hello Ladies'.

Can we have an example?

PurpleDaisies · 06/10/2015 08:24

Grin at "hello ladies" being the calling card of a male poster. Usually an indicator that the poster is an arse.

DoreenLethal · 06/10/2015 08:24

Original posts where the whole text and subsequent posts are made using 'them, their, they' never 'him' or 'her' etc.

Sparklingbrook · 06/10/2015 08:26

Yes or usually both an arse and a man Purple. Or a dodgy media request asking for fat argumentative people for a documentary. Grin

HugoBear · 06/10/2015 08:27

So this isn't someone complaining about gender reassignment?

Trills · 06/10/2015 08:29

Reverse threads in general are a bit rubbish.

You don't know what the other person is thinking, so you can't post "as them" without sounding a bit odd. So "fake you" gets a hard time for sounding inconsistent and unclear, and you use that to claim that "real you" must be in the right.

wannaBe · 06/10/2015 08:30

I have no idea which threads you are referrring to in particular here, however:

IMO men wouldn't feel the need to hide their gender on here if there wasn't such a double standard in terms of how men and women are responded to.

I've seen posts on here talking about how a female partner is behaving, and the response is vastly different because the assumption is that this is her dh talking. And when it transpires that the partner posting is in fact a same-sex partner the trend of posts changes immediately because it's a woman.

cleaty · 06/10/2015 08:31

Totally agree, totally annoying. I just ignore those threads as you know the OP just wants to turn it into a - "You are all man haters" thread, and I can't be bothered. Life is too short.

Sparklingbrook · 06/10/2015 08:33

Is this a Relationships topic thing? I have that topic hidden because I find all of the threads Hmm.

Mintyy · 06/10/2015 08:39

All reverse threads are deeply irritating. All lying on here is deeply irritating but an awful lot of it goes on ...

And, sorry, op, this sort of thread is irritating too. Your op is too vague because you assume everyone knows what you are talking about.

Mrsjayy · 06/10/2015 08:43

hello ladies Grin usually if a thread is vague i ignore it as its an obvious atempt to cause a stooshie really. We had a delightful male call us fuckwitsnet yesterday so that was nice !
